Sunapee Happenings

The new school year has started and behind those sighs of many parents, is a wistfulness for the beginning of the end of this all-too-short summer of 2023, which began with cool days and seemingly never ending June rains. When the the sun finally emerged, it was mid-summer. Now comes September and thermometers are reading in the 80’s! Here’s hoping this is an omen for a glorious Autumn ahead.

CUE THE MUSIC

Friday, Sept. 8th: Sunapee CoffeeHouse. Crowe's Pasture

Monique Byrne and Andy Rogovin perform moving and inspirational songs that are sometimes joyful, sometimes wistful, and oftentimes, poignant, and that reflect a mutual passion for life, family and humanity. Their intimately blended vocal harmonies are mixed with an expressive and unique instrumental style that is best described as "a banjo-guitar romance." Crowes Pasture’s style of intimate and soulful folk transports and connects listeners through universal experiences in their “skillfully crafted, emotional songwriting” (Chris Eastburn, award-winning composer).

Thursday, September 14th: A special music event at The Livery will be Dinner, catered by Fenton’s guest chef, Mary McDonald and Concert featuring New Hampshire’s own, now a rising star on the Nashville music scene, Sam Robbins.

A Short Conversation with Sam Robbins

As always, can we start with some background. Can you tell me a little about how you found music and where it has taken you to get to where you are today, both physically and in more personal terms? Sam: I grew up in a small town in New Hampshire that had a great music scene.

The Victorian Ladies’ Detective Collective

September 21 - October 8

by Patricia Milton

This comedy/mystery is a “cheeky thriller” that centers on women detectives and victims instead of the killer. In 1893, a serial killer not unlike Jack the Ripper terrorizes actresses in the Battersea district of London. As the police have been unable to stop this murderer, three women who live in Mrs. Hunter’s Lodging House for Ladies take up the task. But without modern forensics, access to crime scenes, or cooperation from the authorities, how can they succeed? It’s “Sherlock Holmes” meets “Arsenic & Old Lace” in this entertaining murder mystery with a modern female sensibility.
