FORE the Good - Charlotte Chapter Gives Back

Members of the Chapter met on January 28th to volunteer at the local Second Harvest of the Metrolinas food bank. Our group bagged 950 backpacks to be distributed to school children across the metro and sorted hundreds of pounds of food! Thank you ladies for donating your time and being a part of what makes our chapter special! It was an impactful way to spend the afternoon with golf buddies!

2025 WINTER SOCIAL

Our Annual Winter Social was held Saturday January 25th at Queen Park Social. A special thanks to all who attended and LaWanda for another wonderful event! The ladies got to enjoy bowling as well as a wonderful spread of food and beverage offerings while socializing with our favorite golf friends.

As a part of our continued efforts to give back to the Community, we collected donations for Second Harvest which were delivered by the volunteering group. Thanks to all who donated!



MEET A MEMBER

This month's friendly face is Caroline Hollar! Caroline is a weekend warrior usually playing with the Chapter on the weekend tour events and tournament play. We posed some questions to Caroline to get to know her better:

1. How long have you been playing? On and off for 18 years 
2. What got you interested in golf? My dad got me into golf! I played several sports growing up but started focusing on golf in 8th grade because it was the sport with the least amount of running. 
3. What type of golfer (competitive, leisure, other) would you say you are? I got burnt out after playing competitively in high school, so I like to play for fun now... but that competitive edge is always in me. 
4. Favorite Course in Charlotte Metro? Mooresville. Also Charles T Myers - because I've had good scores there!
5. Favorite Course in the World? Ocean Course at Hammock Beach (in the picture) 
6. Lowest score (If applicable): 88 on 18, 40 on 9
7. Favorite golf memory? Chip-in for a team eagle for the Virtual Scramble was pretty exciting. 
8. What is your favorite thing about being a female golfer? It’s just COOL. I also love that it’s a hobby I can share with my dad - and sometimes beat him! 
9. How long have you lived in the Charlotte Metro? 9 years 
10. Favorite snack to bring or eat on the course while playing? Cheez its and a blue Gatorade 
11. What is your favorite thing about being an LPGA Charlotte member? I like trying new courses and appreciate the ladies who coordinate the events - so that I just have to sign up, show up, and play!
12. Favorite golf brand? Calloway
13. Favorite/least favorite club? Favorite: putter; Least favorite: 5 iron. 
14. What is the most obscure or unique thing in or on your golf bag? A 15 year old green mini sharpie that I mark my golf balls with - I've had that thing since high school, vintage! 
15. What would be a big golf dream (location, score, playing partner) of yours? Waiting patiently for my hole in one.

LPGA Amateurs Scramble Open Registration Opens Feb 13

Phase 1 registration for the 2025 LPGA Amateurs Scramble Open will open on Thursday, Feb 13 at 1:00pm EST and closes on Monday, Feb 17 at 11:59pm EST. This popular event will be held on May 2-3 at Red Hawk Golf & Resort, Hills and Lakes Courses, Sparks, NV.  Click here for more information.

Reminder: all 2024 memberships expired on 12/31/24 and members have until 3/31/25 to renew at the regular rate before being charged the rejoin rate. Those who haven't renewed their membership are considered no longer current. Members must be current in their dues to register and participate in Association-wide and Chapter events.
