UUFF eNews - Week of April 24, 2024

Sunday 11am Service

Sunday, April 28th: "From UU Sources: Judaism - Rebuilding Community," with guest speaker Megan Turner-Chernia. Megan was raised in Arkansas and now lives in Israel. She is a peacenik and works for a national non-profit organization called Eretz-Ir, which focuses on building and maintaining healthy community. Megan will speak to us about one of our UU Sources: Judaism, and the UUFF Choir will bring music sung in Hebrew.

CHOIR MEMBERS, please gather in the UUFF Sanctuary at 10am this Sunday to rehearse for the 11am service!

You can attend service in person at the fellowship building or view it remotely online via Facebook Live Stream. To attend via Facebook, click on: https://fb.me/e/4seZB97ui at exactly 11am Central Standard Time (CST), and then click on "Watch Live Video. You don't need a Facebook account to access.

The UUFF Nursery (located downstairs) offers childcare during both the 10am Religious Exploration hour and the 11am Service.

Please see Nursery Coordinator, Alex Emmons if you need to register your child(ren) or if you have questions.

Sunday 10AM Religious Exploration Classes

Meditation Group - each Sunday morning via zoom, starting at 9am.

If you'd like to attend or just to know more, please contact the Sunday Morning Meditation Lead, Ines Polonius (work4justice2@yahoo.com). Ines sends out the zoom meeting link the night before each session.

Adult RE Mindful Discussion is held at 10am each Sunday in the downstairs common room. All are welcome.

Topic this Sunday: The myth of “Pure Evil,” and the real reasons why people do “evil” things. The highly cited social psychology researcher Roy Baumeister noted in his seminal work Evil: Inside Human Violence and Cruelty: "One starts a work like this wondering, ‘Why is there evil?’ But after reviewing what is known about the causes of aggression, violence, oppression, and other forms of evil, one is led to the opposite question: Why isn't there more evil than there is?" Join us to learn more about the causes of evil acts.

Youth (ages 11+) and Children's (ages 4-11) Religious Exploration Classes are offered each Sunday at 10am in the classrooms downstairs.

UUFF Events, Announcements & Opportunities

UUFF Circle Suppers and Family Feasting!

Are you interested in getting to know fellow UUFFers better in a small group setting while also enjoying some good food? If so, Circle Suppers and/or Family Feasting are great options to explore! Both of these events are open to everyone from first-time UUFF visitors to long-time members.

Circle Suppers are small group potlucks (6-8 adults per group) that are typically held at the home of one of the participants. The groups are rotated each month so that participants can get to know different people. It's a great way to really connect with fellow UUFFers in a low-pressure, casual environment. Participants can opt out of participating in any given month, as well.

If you have children and want to participate in something like Circle Suppers, you can contact new UUFF member Dustin Cook at ar.dustin.cook@gmail.com to find out more about "family feasts."

Please let us know that you are interested in Circle Suppers by signing up here:
