After School Programming

Open House!

2023-Open-House-Flyer- image

On Wednesday, August 30th from 4pm-6pm, the Milford Youth Center will be holding an Open House! Anyone who is interested in registering their child for the after-school program this fall can attend and register! We will also have the building open for tours and staff available to meet and to answer any questions! We look forward to running our after-school program beginning on Tuesday, September 5th!

All participants of the Youth Center must annually fill out our registration form to be a member (registrations will open on August 30th). Once this form is completed, members will receive a key tag and ID number if they are new to the program. This is our way of tracking attendance, so please make sure all members bring their key tag in order to enter. If key tags are lost, the Youth Center will charge $1.00 for a replacement.

The Youth Center also offers a free snack and dinner program, due to the collaboration of CACFP, Hockomock Area YMCA, and the Milford School Food & Nutrition Services department. Members will also be able to use our washer and dryer, free of charge, during our hours of operation. For more general information about the program, click here.

Please keep an eye out for more information about our ’23-’24 After School Program!

Volunteers are always welcome to assist with the after-school program or during the morning hours! We are always looking for help during the after school hours, 2:15-6 PM. You may also run a program/activity during the after-school program. We also need volunteers for our monthly evening events. Please contact us here if you would like to volunteer!

  1. Food Programs: We have numerous food programs that you can help with including: morning food preparation for the free snacks and dinners that get distributed to the after school program, between 10-11 am, help pass out dinners and snacks during the After School Program, from 2:15-6 PM, and Lovin’ Spoonfuls Prep and Distribution once a week!
  2. Homework Help: We would like to offer more time for youth to utilize our upstairs areas, that are quieter to complete homework and/or read, Mon-Thursday from 2:30-3:30 PM.
  3. Life Skills: We are looking for monthly volunteers to teach our youth members a new life skill. Last year, we were fortunate to have some of the following Like Skill programs; automotive, wood working, cyber safety, financial literacy, drug awareness and more. If there is a skill you have or an abundance of knowledge in a particular topic that you would like to teach and share, please do so with us!
  4. Skate Park: Thanks to an Eagle Scout project completed by Josh Schorn, we can offer skate park ramps as a new program. With that, we are looking for individuals with knowledge of skateboarding that could help oversee and teach safety and some basic moves.
  5. Monitor space with staff: We always welcome additional help to oversee our three main spaces open every day to the After School members: Gym, Game Room and Kitchen/Café area.
  6. Events: Every year we host multiple events, like our Halloween Haunted Maze/Party, After School Thanksgiving Dinner, Fashion Show, Fundraisers, and more!

New Monthly Gratification Post!

Thank you Bus Drivers!

This month’s gratification post goes out to our bus drivers from Fisher Bus and Milford Public Schools!

Often, we don’t take the time to acknowledge the people and/or businesses behind the scenes who help make everything go as planned! If we didn’t have our awesome bus drivers to bring us to our three field trips a week, then our campers wouldn’t have been able to have so many fun and different experiences this summer! We have been working with Fisher Bus Inc. for a few years now and their drivers are always on time and so great with our kids! This summer their drivers have driven us to Mendon Town Beach, Gillette Stadium, Water Wizz, and Kimball Farm where two of our favorite bus drivers were able to enjoy a BBQ lunch and ice cream with the staff and campers! We would also like to thank the Milford Public Schools Transportation Department and their bus drivers who have taken us weekly to Goldfish Swim School so our campers can have an afternoon of swimming, due to Fino Pool being renovated! We truly appreciate your time over the summer, without you we would not be able to take our campers off site on these weekly field trips!
