Cover Story: International Marine Service Technician Week

To bring awareness and recognition to marine service professionals who keep boats safe, reliable and enjoyable, the American Boat & Yacht Council designated this week as International Marine Service Technician Week.

As an industry stakeholder, we are honored to take part in this important week by recognizing the following technicians and marine service professionals – holding over 350 years of combined experience and expertise – who make our boatyards and resort marinas possible.

Mechanical – Hank Middleton; Mike Cichocki; Anthony Lanzi; Jordan Capel; Erik Lostrom; Rodger Wilder; Dylan Cecil; Austen McClure; Mike McKenzie.

Electrical and Electronics – Jared Nelson; Cory Travis; Matt O'Callaghan.

Paint and Fiberglass – Tony Brilz; Jamie Cecil.

Lift and Yard Crews – Toby Perry; Aron Ashley; Joe Collazo; Walter Elburn; Eric Farmer; Bobby Fisher; Christian Sunkler; Tony Hendrick; Jack Nordhoff; Graeme Pratt; Taylor Stevens.

Our yacht services department is led by seasoned managers Ed Cecil, Mike Stevens, Pepper Gilbert and Taylor White.

“We're very fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented group of technicians," said Ed. "They've been faced with many challenges over the past few years, and because of our strong team efforts we have persevered. We certainly wouldn't be where we are today without these special individuals.”

“Our slipholders and service clients who visit from near and far constantly tell me their love for our beautiful resorts," added Managing Director Charlie Petosa. "They're also quick to remind me that the most important reason for their loyalty is due to our yacht services team. Our marine technicians are the lifeblood of our company, and we're very fortunate and thankful to have each of them.”

As part of a region-wide initiative, all vessels that have requested for their shrinkwrap to be removed by Haven Harbour Yacht Services will have a $15 recycling fee charged to their commissioning order.

DIYers will need to buy the $15 recycling bag from one of our marine stores and prepare their used shrinkwrap according to MTAM guidelines. All straps, zippers, doors and vents must be removed for wrap to be accepted by recyclers (watch demo). This is a reminder that boats larger than 35 feet may require two bags.
