8TH GRADE PROMOTION 5/15

We are excited to announce that the time has come for our 8th grade Promotion Ceremony! During the last week of school, your student will receive Promotion invitations from their Elevate teacher.

Each student is allowed to bring two adults along with their siblings. Please reach out to Lori King at lori.king@coloradoearlycolleges with any questions. Congratulations, parents! You deserve it!

MAPS TESTING 5/2 & 5/3

End of Year MAPs testing is May 2nd and 3rd! This is the benchmark testing that we do 3 times a year to see individual student growth in Mathematics and Language Arts. These tests help us place students in classes for the Fall, so all students are required to take them and should try their best to ensure correct placement. There will still be regular classes on these days after morning testing so come rested and ready for a full day of school. If you have questions please email, rachel.page@coloradoearlycolleges.org

IMPORTANT FINALS 5/8 - 5/13!

Finals are coming soon, May 8-13th! It is important that students are attending school so that they do not miss these last vital grades to finish the 23/24 school year strong! If your student will be absent during any of those days, please reach out to teachers to arrange a make-up time.

HALF DAY OF SCHOOL 5/14

Half day, dismissal at noon on May 14. Middle School only.

INPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION!

Hello CEC families, we have had several incidents of near head on collisions with entering and exiting our parking lot. Please remember to exit through the back of CEC when leaving the parking lot. Thank you and we appreciate your cooperation!

TEACHER/STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK 4/29-5/3

We are excited for all the opportunities we have to celebrate the team at CECMS who educate and care for our children every day. This year we're asking for donations of snacks for the teachers to have throughout the week (some may last them through finals!) Please sign up on the Sign-up Genius below.

The SAC has arranged for a coffee truck on Friday, and we'd love to have donuts for our fabulous staff, as well! This is also on the Sign-up Genius but is specifically for Friday 5/3.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week is April 29 - May 3, and we invite you to join us in honoring the hard work and dedication of our educators and support staff by making a gift! Your contribution will help us provide tokens of gratitude and recognition to those who tirelessly nurture and support our students every day. Your gift will enable us to provide heartfelt gestures of appreciation, reminding our educators and staff that their hard work is valued and cherished.

CEC SPRING FUN RUN! 5/11

We are excited to invite you to join us for the CEC Spring Fun Run on May 11th! This event promises to be a fun and energizing way to spend time with your family, while also supporting a great cause. This fundraising event will provide scholarships for students who wish to attend our out-of-state field trips next year! To register, there is a fee of $35 per family, and students and teachers run for free. Plus, one Youth Size L T-shirt is included with registration. If you would like to purchase additional T-shirts for your student, they are available for $15, but please note that they are specific to grade level and availability is limited, so it's first come, first served. CIVICS BEE

CELEBRATING EARTH DAY

Ms. Lerner, Mr. Buchanan, and Ms. Martinez celebrated Earth Day with our 6th and 7th-grade student volunteers. These fabulous volunteers picked up trash at Meadows Park (and yes, they wore gloves!). The students really enjoyed themselves and even asked to do it more often. We are so proud of our students for sacrificing their lunch and recess to take care of our community!

FROM THE DESK OF MS. LERNER

For the rest of the school year, Ms. Lerner wants to share resources and information MAY is Mental Health Month.

I am using some resources from a free toolkit from Mental Health America (feel free to check it out too!): https://mhanational.org/mental-health-month/2024-toolkit-download?eType=EmailConfirmation&eId=849172a8-e3b8-407d-93f2-ee5a170e7e1e

This year’s theme for Mental Health Month is “Where to Start: Mental Health in a Changing World.” In a world that is constantly evolving, it can be overwhelming to navigate the various challenges and changes around us. The pressures of work and relationships along with societal factors like politics, the economy, and other social issues can significantly impact our mental well-being, sometimes even more than we realize. While discussions around mental health have become more common, it can be hard to know “Where to Start” when these pressures impact your daily life — what do you do when you think you might be experiencing signs and symptoms of a mental health condition?

Let’s work on this together! Facts to consider:

  • Mental health is an essential part of overall well-being, impacting individuals, families, and communities across Northern Colorado.
  • One in five American adults experiences a mental health condition each year, and everyone faces challenges in life that can impact mental health.
  • Despite its prevalence, mental health remains shrouded in stigma, preventing many from seeking help.
  • Early intervention and access to quality care are crucial for managing mental health conditions and improving quality of life.
  • May is recognized nationally as Mental Health Month, providing an opportunity to raise awareness, combat stigma, and promote mental health resources.

I encourage you all to:

  • Educate yourselves and others about mental health conditions, treatment options, and available resources.
  • Challenge stigma by speaking respectfully and inclusively about mental health.
  • Seek help if you or a loved one struggles with mental health and encourage others to do the same.
  • Support organizations that provide mental health services and advocacy.
  • Create safe and supportive environments for open conversations about mental health.

Together we can create a community where everyone feels empowered to prioritize their mental well-being and seek help when needed.

As always, reach out if you need to connect with Ms. Lerner about your student, resources or concerns.

In addition, Ms. Lerner is the McKinney Vento Liaison. Please see below for more information about that program.

IMMUNIZATION RATES FOR MMR 22-23
