It's Loon Week!

Get ready for Mercer's biggest week of the year... It's time for Loon Day!


The library has three big events happening for everyone in the family this week, in addition to the Loon Day festivities sponsored by the Mercer Chamber of Commerce. Please note that the library will be closed on Wednesday.

Jeff Nania, author of "Northern Lakes Mystery" series


The Mercer Library is pleased to welcome Wisconsin author Jeff Nania on Monday, July 31 at 2:00 p.m.


Nania draws upon a wealth of experience in his bestselling "Northern Lakes Mystery" series. His most recent title, Musky Run, was recognized by the Independent Publisher Book Awards as the Great Lakes Best Regional Fiction Gold Winner. Nania is a former law enforcement officer, biofuel creator, nationally renowned conservationist, and award-winning author. The books in his Northern Lakes Mystery series — Figure Eight (2019), Spider Lake (2020), Bough Cutter (2021), and Musky Run (2023) — have been recognized by Midwest Book Awards, Independent Publisher Book Awards, and Next Generation Indie Book Awards. The program is free and open to everyone, and books will be available for sale.

Used Book Sale on August 1


The Friends will be holding a one-day USED BOOK SALE on Tuesday, August 1 at 9am to 6pm in the Mercer Community Center.


We'll have bargains for everyone, including hardcover and paperback fiction and nonfiction, children's books, puzzles and games, music CDs, and DVDs. Prices start at just 25¢, and after 3pm we'll be holding a Bag Sale: all the items you can fit in a bag for just $2. Don't miss this sale!


We are still accepting donations of good-condition hardcover and paperback books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles and games for the sale.

"Rap, Rock, and Read" with Miss Nina


Calling all kids, grandkids, and kids at heart! Get ready to dance and sing with Miss Nina on Thursday, August 3 at 11:00 a.m.


Award-Winning children’s music artist Miss Nina makes it her mission to entertain, educate, and bring joy to young children through music & movement. She rocks a pink guitar, loves to dance and has a knack for putting popular children’s books to music. “Rap, Rock & Read” is a wonderfully interactive, high-energy music performance. The program is appropriate for all ages, but best suited to kids ages 0 to 7.
