Feast of the Epiphany
O God, who by the guidance of a star did on this day manifest Your only-begotten Son to the Gentiles, mercifully grant that we who know You by faith may also attain the vision of Your glorious majesty.
While the calendar new year is underway, the Christmas season is officially at an end.

Students marked the feast of the Epiphany Friday morning, celebrating the revelation to the Maji that Jesus Christ was the Son of God. Tradition has it that it took the Three Wise Men 12 days to travel to Bethlehem following his birth.

The day also commemorates Jesus's baptism in the Jordan River by John the Baptist.
All in the Family: Holy Names Instills Leadership Skills
Catie Vivian '14, daughter of Board of Trustees Member Kristin Vivian, is a Marketing Development Manager at E. & J. Gallo Winery.
Kristin Vivian, a member of the Board of Trustees at Academy of the Holy Names, says her daughter Catie used to be very shy girl, especially when Catie first made the transition to high school at AHN.

“I remember her crying for the first two weeks because none of her Middle School friends attended with her,” Vivian says. That would soon change. “One of the best things was the ease of getting ready in the morning. No fuss, just a uniform and hair in ponytail or bun. No pressure to look or dress a certain way. Catie could be sensitive, so this made it easy for her to fit in. Our daughter Margaret also attended, and both had a terrific experience.

“As a freshman I was intimidated to be in a new place with new people, curriculum, and expectations of me, says Catie Vivian ‘14. “After the first several weeks having been immersed and adjusted to AHN, I knew I was going to enjoy my experience over the next 4 years.”

Basketball Alumnae Return,
Player Honored
Thank you to our basketball alumnae who came out over the weekend. From the class of 1964 to 2022, it was an honor to honor you during halftime of our home game versus Mohonasen.
Speaking of which, kudos to Sophia Bologna, whose 38-point effort and buzzer-beating game-winner in the matchup once again landed her Times Union Athlete of the Week honors.

Next up for the varsity squad: home matchups versus Schenectady High tomorrow at 1 p.m., followed by The Albany Academy for Girls on Tuesday.

  • Saturday, February 11, 8:30 a.m.

Caroling Proceeds to Benefit
Art Department
Thank you to everyone who came out and not only saw Director Theresa Moran and her choral ensemble perform Christmas carols at the Barnes and Noble at Colonie Center in December, but made a purchase as well!

A portion of the day's proceeds have resulted in a B&N gift card donated to the school, which will be used for arts supplies.
Special Guest Visits Sculpture Class
Shoutout to Karen Schupack, Owner of Albany Art Room who paid a visit to Mrs. Sela’s sculpture class today and will be back each of the next couple of weeks as students work on tile mosaic projects. Stay tuned for the final results!
