Construction Update
Exit 16 DDI
DATE: Friday, August 4, 2023

TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION:
Sunday, August 6, through Thursday, August 10, during nighttime hours, 7:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m., U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and Mountain View Drive will be under northbound lane closures to facilitate duct bank installation. At least one travel lane will remain open in each direction during the nighttime hours. Side street access will be maintained throughout this work. Motorists are strongly encouraged to use caution while driving through the work zone and pay close attention to signage as traffic patterns will change.

Monday, August 7, through Friday, August 11, during the daytime hours, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., work will continue along U.S. 2/7 throughout the project area under lane closures. Only a single travel lane will be closed in each direction during the daytime hours. Intermittent northbound lane closures along U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and Mountain View Drive will be in effect throughout the daytime hours to facilitate the paving of sections of roadway disturbed during overnight work. The outermost southbound lane along U.S. 2/7 between the Interstate 89 (I-89) ramps will be closed to facilitate the installation of the retaining wall along the west side of U.S. 2/7. There is the potential for closures of the outermost northbound lane along U.S. 2/7 between the I-89 ramps to facilitate the installation of a protective coating on the retaining wall along the east side of U.S. 2/7.

All users should expect delays and plan ahead.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:
Next week, during nighttime hours, crews will continue to install duct bank along U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and Mountain View Drive. Throughout the week, crews will continue installing duct bank starting just north of South Park Drive near Champlain Farms/the Shell gas station and continuing north towards the I-89 northbound offramp. This work will require lane closures along U.S. 2/7.

Next week, during daytime hours, crews will continue to pave sections of disturbed roadway along U.S. 2/7 and construct the western retaining wall that will run along the west side of U.S. 2/7 outside of the I-89 bridge piers under lane closures. Crews will also install a protective coating on the retaining wall along the east side of U.S. 2/7. This work will take place predominantly off the roadway with the potential for lane closures.
Starting Friday, August 11, at 8:00 a.m., crews will complete water tie-in work at Highgate Center. Water tie-in work will require a short water service disruption. Affected property owners have been notified by a member of the Project Team.
Crews continue working to install duct bank along U.S. 2/7.
LOCATION: U.S. Routes 2/7 (U.S. 2/7) in Colchester starting at the Winooski town line and continuing north for 1.05 miles to Sunderland Woods Road.
