UPCOMING EVENTS

Come Deep Dive into the depths of ambient sound with Carrie and Ron Dewhurst as they create an intimate sacred healing space with Gongs. The nuances and complexities of the vibrational range of the Gong can be quite penetrating, at times peaceful, and at other times compelling. They enable healing on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Interacting with us and shifting our subtle energy field, the gong energy clears blocks and creates energetic flows which rebalance our whole being. Instilling harmony and addressing any disturbances at the causal level, the gongs empower the self-healing processes within.

Participants are asked to experience this with a deep listening state to allow surrender to the process of “Letting Go”. This intimate sound experience is available at NWCA Killiney Beach Hall on Wednesday, November 8th from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm and is open to 16 participants.

The address is 516 Udell Road Vernon, BC. The cost is $20.00 per person. Feel free to bring a cushion, blanket and pillow for added comfort. Please call Ron Dewhurst at 250.826.2335 or email rdew@telus.net to reserve a space.

NWCA AGM - Annual General Meeting

Thank you to all the vendors that participated in the NWCA Oktoberfest Hippie Market. The bakers, Stacy and Liam (Liam's Creations), your treats are delish! Nicole (On the Veg of Life) your salted caramel square is decadent....so satisfying and everyone ought to try your products...so healthy and tasty. Laura W. (Laura's Food from the Heart), Greg adores your split pea soup! Loving my new jean jacket thanks to Kerry and Ron (Anahata Designs)...been searching for this item for 40 years...the search is over, lol. Can't say all the lovely gifts I have ready for the Holiday season as i don't want to ruin anyone's surprises. The NWCA Hippie Market community is very special. They always support fundraisers when asked and a special thanks to Sandy Brandt (Sandy Brandt Pottery), Sashah Harrison (Kotan Candles) , Thao (Rosie BCo), Ananda (Fintry Fine Herbs and Teas) and Connie (Sunset Gourmet) for supporting the NWCA's Halloween Howler Fundraiser being organized by Paige Taylor for the NWCA's Santa Meet and Greet event for the kiddoes. The next NWCA Hippie Market is DEC 15...it's our HOLIDAY MARKET. Please do come and support these special members of our community and get some of your Holiday shopping done. Heard something the other day...."When a company sells a 'gift' the CEO does not do a "jig"...but when our local artisans, bakers and creators sell a gift, they absolutely do a 'jig'" ...let's get all our hippie market vendors jigging on Dec 15th. Peace and Love.

NORTH WESTSIDE FIRE RESCUE

Articles shared are posted on the NWFR Facebook Page.

Thank you Donna Denison for coming by the hall, meeting our members and generously donating bottles of your Little Creek Dressing to our members as a thank you for protecting your property during the McDougall Creek Wildfire. It was a pleasure to meet you as well as serve and protect your home and property during the wildfires.

Last practice members practiced skills & training on ventilation, communication and coordination. Specifically training on positive pressure, negative pressure and hydraulic pressure ventilation. We filled the bay at Stn.101 with our fog machine to simulate real life conditions for members. Ventilation is an important strategy and tactic as it significantly improves visibility and conditions for those inside and rescue teams. Great job members.

October 16, 2023: Restrictions for open burning in the Central Okanagan have been lifted and permits are available for eligible property owners from their local fire service. See news release for more details.

Fire hydrant servicing for RDCO water systems

Over the next few weeks, crews from Pacific Flow Control will be out in Electoral Area West and Electoral Area East to complete servicing work on fire hydrants for the six RDCO water systems. The Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) has contracted Pacific Flow Control to complete fire hydrant servicing.

The Regional District provides water service to just over 1,100 connections in six service areas. The six RDCO water systems include:

·   Falcon Ridge

·   Killiney Beach

·   Dietrich/Star Place/Trepanier

·   Westshore Estates

·   Sunset Ranch

·   Upper Fintry/Shalal Road/Valley of the Sun

Signage may be posted and residents may notice an impact to traffic as crews work. Please follow direction from flaggers and drive slowly around workers for their safety.

During the fire hydrant servicing, residents may notice a slight decrease in water pressure or discoloration of water. If this occurs, run the cold water tap until water runs clear.

For more information visit the Regional District water system webpage (rdco.com/water) or contact RDCO Environmental Services at engineer@rdco.com or 250-469-6241.
