The Dean's Commentary

“God has taken his place in the divine council.”
Psalm 82:1

Dear Friends,

With thanks for your generosity in ministry, I have now returned from the 80th General Convention of the Episcopal Church and also from a very restorative vacation. Your cathedral staff and clergy are in the midst of continuing to refine our plans for this upcoming program year. The cathedral has received exceptional engagement with regards to the numbers of completed surveys that asked about family and children’s ministries. Thank you for your love, your care, and your concern for this cathedral community!

The Very Reverend Troy D. Mendez
Dean
Bilingual Service & Luncheon
September 4 | 10:00 a.m.

Our next bilingual Eucharist will be on Sunday, September 4 at our 10 a.m. service.

Just like the one we held June 26, there will be a congregational lunch that follows.

We are still working out many of the specific details of that day, and anticipate having more answers soon.
Misa Bilingüe y Almuerzo
4 Septiembre | 10:00 a.m.

Christian Formation
August 6 | 6:30 p.m.
Atwood Hall

These meetings will focus on themes of the Episcopal Church such as who we are, what is the Episcopal Church, what are its customs, and the differences between the Episcopal Church and the Roman Catholic Church.

All are invited to learn more about our faith so that we might more deeply live it out.

Classes are held in Atwood Hall at 6:30 p.m. They are conducted in Spanish, but an English translation will be provided.
Final Call for Family Ministries Survey Responses
Thank you to everyone who has already filled out our survey regarding children, youth and family ministries! There is still a little time left, so if you have not done so, we strongly encourage everyone to fill it out -- even if you don't have children or grandchildren who would participate.

Click here to go to the survey.

Questions? Email Rev. Perry Pauley at perry@trinitycathedral.com.
Trinity Quilters Meeting
August 13 | 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Trinity Quilters invite anyone 10 and older to join in their healing ministry. The quilters meet the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month from July through October in Atwood Hall. Their next meeting is on August 13th.

D-Backs Faith & Family Night
August 19 | 6:40 p.m. First Pitch
Chase Field

Join other members of the Diocese of Arizona at Chase Field on August 19 for Faith and Family Night.

Those looking to travel as a group may arrive at Trinity at 5:30 p.m. We will have a food truck set up, and afterward we will take the light rail to the game. A light rail pass is included in the ticket price.

Stick around after the game for a concert from the Grammy Award-winning band Switchfoot!

Get your tickets using this link. A portion of the sales will support the diocese's veterans ministry.
Facility Use Request Form
Deadline: August 31st

If you are a part of a group that is anticipating using the sanctuary or other parts of the Cathedral campus in the coming 2022-2023 program year, we ask that you fill out this facility use form to help us ensure that all groups and organizations who are seeking to hold an event at Trinity are able to do so.

Space through June 2023 is filling up quickly, so we ask all groups to complete the survey by August 31st. After that date, we cannot guarantee space for an event.
Coffee Hour Signups
Thank you to everyone who has signed up for coffee hour through the summer months, including the following people who have signed up to provide finger snacks of their choosing in upcoming weeks:

Trinity Cathedral Centennial Show – 100 Years of Photographs
For July and August, the Olney Gallery will feature a return of a popular exhibit: More than 30 images along with timeline posters covering 100 years of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.

The photographs include different construction stages of the Cathedral, the original church at 2nd Ave and Washington in the 1800s, Duke Ellington at the cathedral in the 1960s, 1970s fashions, the manufacture of the unique carved stained-glass windows, and the devastating fire of 2002.

There will be no First Friday receptions in July and August as the event takes a break during the hottest months in the Valley, but they will resume in September.
