July 12 - Town of Oakville Council will consider adoption of the DC Background Study and passage of the DC by-law. The DC by-law addresses the land and infrastructure needs for new and widened roads, park development, recreation and library facilities, transit fleet and infrastructure, fire protection facilities and fleet, and by-law enforcement vehicles in order to provide complete communities. If passed, the by-law would come into effect July 13. Additional information, including the town’s development charge background study, can be found here.
September 1 - Halton Region's approved development charge By-law 25-22 comes into effect. This by-law establishes water, wastewater, roads and general services development charges for The Regional Municipality of Halton (built boundary and greenfield areas) and repeals By-law No. 36-17.

For building permit applications related to a site plan or zoning by-law amendment application made since January 1, 2020, development charge rates will be frozen on the day a complete application is received. For all other permits, development charges are payable at the rate in effect at the time of building permit issuance.
