Forest Park Kicks Off Phase II of the Main Street Redevelopment Project

Officials from the City of Forest Park recently held a special announcement for Phase II of the Main Street Redevelopment Project. As part of the city's vision of a vibrant downtown district, the current project phase incudes installing streetscape lighting, sidewalk installation and landscaping throughout the Main Street corridor. A special thank you goes out to our amazing community partners working to help develop a lively downtown area filled with culture, great dining and entertainment.

City Hosting Next Clean Sweep On Jan. 7

Residents looking to remove junk or trash from their property after the holidays are encouraged to participate in the city's upcoming Clean Sweep event on Saturday, Jan. 7, from 8 a.m. to noon. at the city's recycling center, located at 327 Lamar Dr. Forest Park residents may bring anything for disposal with the exception of dirt, bricks, acids, unknown chemicals, flammable liquids or cement. Car tires are welcomed, but will be limited to four (4) tires per resident. Paint that has been dried with kitty litter will also be accepted.


Please note that this event is for city residents only. Individuals will be required to show proof of residency in order to receive service. For additional information, contact Public Works at (404) 366-4720 (press option 3 on the main menu).

City Rallies To Provide Assistance During Water Outage Disruptions

City of Forest Park employees and volunteers were on the front lines assisting residents who were impacted by the recent water outages throughout Clayton County. A special thank you goes out to our amazing city staff, volunteers, the Clayton County Water Authority and Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security.

Forest Park Police Department Welcomes New K-9 Officer

The Forest Park Police Department officially welcomed K-9 Officer Shagy to the city's law enforcement team. The 18-month-old purebred German Shepherd male was born in the Czech Republic and graduated from the police service dog academy on Dec. 16. Shagy has been assigned to assist with criminal apprehension, directed area searches, patrol routes and narcotic detection. His assigned handler, Officer Samuel Taylor, also completed a 500-hour police service dog certification at the Alabama Canine Law Enforcement Officer’s Training Center in Northport, Ala.
