Face to Face: Impacting Our Community Every Day!

ACM has a current caseload of 96 youth and provides Conflict Resolution workshops in both online and in-person settings. Our goal is to keep increasing this number and expand our peacebuilding services. With your help, we can redefine violence prevention for all communities in DC!

ACM Welcomes U.S. Department of State / Kyrgyz Republic Delegation

Earlier this month, the U.S. Department of State again conducted its signature exchange program – the IVLP at the Alliance of Concerned Men, with the Kyrgyz Republic delegation. The IVLP group got a hands-on experience with ACM practitioners. The group observed and took part in ACM training on Conflict Resolution and this will be used to advance the important work they do in their home country.

Walking through the Greenway community and seeing the Safe Passage program was a highlight for the delegation. ACM hopes to welcome more visits from around the world!

Summer Strong: Teaching Conflict Resolution and Training Peacebuilders

We had a full house at ACM this summer; we were honored to receive funding by the Office of Out-of-School Time (OST) Summer Strong grants to implement a comprehensive youth development program aimed at reducing violence and promoting positive life skills among at-risk youth in Washington, DC.

Our goal was to empower youth to become peacebuilders in their communities utilizing the Conflict Resolution Curriculum created in partnership with American University’s Department of International Conflict Resolution and Peace. We had over 73 youth engaged!

Help us reach more youth. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Book Bag Giveaways for Chuck Brown Day

ACM gave out 5000 bookbags and supplies at the September Chuck Brown Day concert and Fort Dupont Park BBQ.

We had the entire community participate and all students were presented with school bags for their new year! We appreciate the generosity of Murder Free DC, a nonprofit that helped us meet our goals so that all students who needed school supplies received them!

OG Initiative / Violence Free Zone Program has begun!

Our OG Initiative case load has over 200 participating perpetrators and victims of violence. To help these young people get back on the right path, we partnered with the DC Blue Bulls football team to provide them helmets and pads for their FY 23-24 football season.

The work of our OG Initiative violence interrupters, safe passage monitors, conflict resolution instructors, mentors, administrative staff, and OG Initiative leadership continues to make an impact.

You can be part of this transformation. Thank you for your gifts.

Uniting Communities: A Culinary Experience on Capitol Hill

ACM orchestrated a memorable gathering at the DC Capitol Square Bar and Grill's springtime open house. This event was graced by our diligent ACM program managers, teams, and esteemed strategic partners, alongside a warm assembly of supportive friends.

It wasn't merely a celebration of a new neighborhood dining haven on Capitol Hill, but a testament to the enduring spirit of community collaboration. Everyone could feel the anticipation surrounding the international culinary offerings of the restaurant, and the successful event underscored the vibrant nexus between local business and communal engagement. Through shared experiences like these, we continue to foster a stronger, more interconnected community.

Dream Team: ACM x Wizards

We are grateful for ongoing support with the Washington Wizards as we help confront DC public safety challenges. We had a successful 6-month Peace Tees Campaign which provided financial support to our programs and season game-day seats for our youth in the spring.
