Meeting Dates

Supporting Your Practice

Vaccine reminders: Find updates on COVID vaccine availability as well as important information about providing vaccines here.

COVID vaccine fee schedule updates: With the end of the COVID Public Health Emergency, APP is now at risk to pay for the COVID vaccinations given to risk patients. The fee schedule is now available on APP Pro. Stay tuned for more resources.

Operations updates: View the latest program updates including requirement for MDE supporting documentation removed for registry measures, biannual HbA1c monitoring measure changes and more.

Medicare Annual Election Period: What you need to know: The Medicare Annual Election Period (AEP) begins on Oct. 15 and your patients may have questions about Medicare Advantage (MA) and benefits to patients, our partnership with Devoted Health to offer MA plans and more. Open enrollment for Affordable Care Act Marketplace plans also begins Nov. 1 – and with some patients losing eligibility for Medicaid coverage during the renewal period, your patients may need that resource.

Time is running out to get your flu shot: Getting a flu shot is required for APP physicians to promote a safe working environment, helping to prevent transmission among teams, patients and our communities. Use TrackMy to help schedule and verify flu vaccinations. Learn how to comply.

New Service To CAV Order in Epic Connect: Effective Oct. 17, physicians and APCs can fill out a Service To Comprehensive Annual Visits (CAV) Order through Epic Connect for referring Medicare Advantage and Medicare Shared Savings patients with open care gaps to the CAV program. Not on Epic Connect? Refer by calling 866-225-9528.

Helping close wellness care gaps: Patients can now self-schedule select Wellness Health Maintenance topics in the Preventive Care area of LiveWell, making it easier for patients to take action on their wellness care gaps. Learn more

Medication Order Changes to Impact Inpatient User Preference Lists: Effective Oct. 19, certain medications saved to inpatient user preference lists will be reset as we implement new default instructions to address DNV citations. DNV has cited our hospitals for having multiple PRN medication orders with the same indication active for the same patient, such as IV and oral analgesics for the same degree of pain. We need to improve on this citation by early November. To address this concern, default instructions will be added to some medications. Learn more.

Update - Telehealth regulatory requirements: During the COVID Public Health Emergency, a patient could be in any state at the time of a telehealth visit, regardless of physician and APC licensure. CMS now requires the patient be physically located in a state where the physician or APC has an active license at the time of the virtual visit, whether video or telephone. In alignment with this change, while Medical Group physicians and APCs may only offer virtual visits to patients in the four core care delivery states (Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan), APP aligned may bypass the location requirement, but are still required to follow the CMS state licensure mandate. Starting Oct. 17, a BPA will be activated in Epic Connect to support these requirements. Learn more.

We heard you – CareSelect for advanced imaging orders is going away: CareSelect, the Clinical Decision Support application for advanced imaging procedure orders, and the accompanying BPA in Epic will be removed on Oct. 19. Imaging orders affected by this change no longer require the Reason for Exam BPA to be addressed, saving you time and reducing administrative burden. Contact Roxanne Oswalt with questions.

Pharmacy & Therapeutics updates: Review the latest Pharmacy and Therapeutics ambulatory and regional committees’ decisions. View September summary.

Blood can circulate forever if you keep donating it: There’s a nationwide emergency appeal for blood and platelet donors. Consider donating at an on-site October blood drive and be very conservative with blood products. We continue to promote the need and our partnership with American Red Cross and Versiti on social media and in health enews.

Epic Updates

More Practices Live on Epic Connect: On Oct. 2, seven APP aligned practices including 11 physicians went live on Epic Connect in our final go-live for 2023. This brings the total number to 59 practices including 106 physicians, covering almost 58,000 attributed lives. Having our APP aligned practices on our instance of Epic helps us advance our population health work, supports care coordination across the network, and greatly enhances safety and quality through a single patient record. The go-lives for 2024 are March 7, June 3 and Oct. 1. Reminder: If you are interested in joining Epic Connect, reach out to the Epic Connect team for more details.

Give Epic inpatient setting feedback by Oct. 25: Your feedback matters. With your suggestions and input, we’ve made great strides in making Epic more efficient and easier to use. Help us understand how to further enhance our platform by filling out this brief survey in partnership with KLAS Research by Oct. 25. Thank you in advance for your participation and feedback. Note: this survey is specific to Epic used in inpatient settings at Advocate Health Care hospitals – if you only use EpicCare Link or Tapestry at this time, please disregard this message.

Daylight saving time: The fall daylight saving time event will occur on Nov. 5. Epic will not be taken down during the transition period. The repetition of the 1 a.m. hour may result in unique situations that those accessing Epic during this time should be prepared to manage.

Epic Update: Ambulatory Epic Connect: Vitals reference ranges, patient wellness visit self-scheduling in LiveWell and more.

Epic Update: Hospital edition: New restraint My Lists column, fiber restricted diet order, enter edit results and more.
