This Weekend in Worship

In Isaiah we are given a vision of the great feast to come, when God will wipe away death forever. In Jesus’ parable about a great banquet, those invited do not come, so the invitation is extended to others. In our liturgy God spreads a table before us. Even amid anxiety and hardship we rejoice in the peace of God which surpasses all understanding. With great joy we feast at the table of the Lord, and we go forth to share the wonderful invitation with others hungering and thirsting for the abundant life of God.

Saturday Worship

Taizé Prayer

The style of Saturday Worship at 5:00 pm continues to follow the form of Taizé Prayer. The congregation will be invited into a more simple and meditative form of worship, calling us to dwell deeply on Christ's presence around and within us. One characteristic of Taizé worship is the use of repetitive prayer set to simple musical lines. While the service will maintain a familiar order, intentional pauses for silence will offer space for meditation and prayer.

Director of Music Ministry

Faith Lutheran Church seeks a Director of Music Ministry to shape, guide, and coordinate a quality music program which is multi-faceted with a variety of musical styles for groups of all ages. A position description for this full-time job and application form can be found at www.faithlc.org/employment.

The position will be open until filled. Interested persons are invited to send a resume and cover letter to Pastor Eric Carlson. Email: eric@faithlc.org. Mail: Faith Lutheran Church, 10395 University Avenue, Clive, IA 50325

The Divine Drama

Adult Faith Formation

Wednesday night Adult Faith Formation meets from 6:15—7:00 pm in St. Michael’s Hall. The Divine Drama outlines the biblical storyline from creation to Jesus the Messiah. Pastor Carlson will lead participants through the complete Biblical Narrative in 16 sessions, focusing on the forgiving grace of God who came to us in Jesus Christ to rescue us from sin and restore us to a right relationship with God and each other. Visit faithlc.org/adultministries for more information.

Memory Garden Plants

As we prepare for the Memory Garden renovation as early as next week, the congregation is welcome to remove plants and flowers on a first come-first serve basis. All ornaments, pavement, and bricks will remain with the garden. When digging, please be aware of the irrigation system. Reach out to the church office with any questions.

The Luther Room

The next time you're at church, you will notice that the Children, Youth & Family Ministry Center (CYFMC) has moved to Room 207 on the north end of St. Michael's Hall. The former CYFMC is now known as the Luther Room. This is a multi-functional place where people can gather for meetings, a contemplative space, small group gatherings, and a place of respite. There is still some work to be done in this space. In the coming weeks, the artwork, writings, and images in this room will remind us of Martin Luther's witness. Click here and scroll down to learn more about the Luther Room. Contact Erik Ullestad at office@faithlc.org if you'd like to reserve the Luther Room for your next meeting.

October 15 & 22

This four-week series continues Sunday at 9:30 am in Room 203/204. This class is intended for caregivers of aging parents or others to recognize and understand this as an important milestone in their lives. A Zoom option is also available by clicking here at 9:30 am on Sundays.

Planning for the End of Life

October 16

Pastor Carlson will conclude this series focused on honoring and planning for the end of life. Topics include funeral planning, what to do with your possessions, and leaving a legacy. This final session will be offered at 10:00 am and 6:30 pm in Room 205 on October 16.

Stewards of Our Resources

On November 4 & 5, the Faith community is invited to place Intent Cards on the altar during the Offering in worship.
