August 2022
WELCOME TO OUR AUGUST eNEWSLETTER
Where did the summer go? Between big events at the store (thanks to everyone that showed up for Kim's retirement gala at the Rockies game!), full classes and the travel department ramped up with rescheduled trips plus plenty of new individual bookings, our summer has flown by. Now kids are heading back to school and the first hints of fall are arriving (Hello Halloween decorations and Pumpkin Spice Latte's).

We are very excited to see large shipments of backordered products arriving daily. We still anticipate the holiday season to be challenging with supply, so our best recommendation is to shop early (and often!).

Travel demand continues to see record levels, so don't delay on your Fall Break, holiday and Spring Break plans. Resorts and flights are filling fast. Our experts are here to make sure you don't miss out on your dream vacations.

Happy Diving!

ARE YOU CARING FOR YOUR FLASHLIGHT?

Flashlights, or torches in many other countries, are a vital piece of gear on all our dives. Most think they are just a tool for night dives, but it's ideal for those of us searching out octopus, lobster, crabs and eels during the day hidden in the cracks and crevices of the reef.

But are you caring for your light? Removing the main o-ring prior to your first dive, or anytime you remove the battery cover, cleaning both it and the groove it sits, and applying a thin layer of silicone are critical to ensuring a long life.

Take time to rinse your lights post-dive to remove any salt or sediment, and dry completely before storage. Does your light have a rechargeable battery? Recharge quarterly to keep your battery fresh and improve its' longevity.

These few actions can help keep your dives illuminated for years to come!

AQUALUNG i330R RECALL
Aqualung Group is conducting a recall of its i330R Dive Computers that have been produced and distributed in 2021 and 2022. It was identified that said dive computer does not automatically adjust pressure level when diving at 900m (3000 feet) altitude or higher, posing an injury and drowning hazard. This product
recall has been announced in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety
Commission.

• Customers should immediately stop using their i330R Dive Computer for diving activity taking place at 900m (3000 feet) altitude or higher.
• Customers are further asked to update their i330R dive computers by:
- downloading a firmware update through DiverLog+ application as per instructions below; or
- bringing i330R dive computer to the store where it was bought; the professionals of the store/dive center will be able to download and install the upgrade.

After the installation of the update, the new firmware revision should read R1.004 or later. End users upgrading their i330R themselves are advised to bring it to product dealer or local Dive Center to check if the upgrade has been successfully installed.

NEED TO REFRESH YOUR DIVE SKILLS?
Pool
POOL NIGHT ~ Once a month, we open our pool for divers to come in after hours and splash around. This is a self guided review (there won't be an instructor on duty) but gives you a chance to set up your gear, blow bubbles, and keep things fresh between trips. $25 covers your pool time, one rental tank and any scuba equipment you may need. Sign up online as we have limited availability each night.

The pool will be available from 6 - 9pm on the following nights:

  • Aug. 30
  • Sept. 12
  • Oct. 17
  • Nov. 4
  • Dec. 20

If our scheduled dates don't match up with your schedule, you can always arrange a pool workout. Give us a call to discuss.

SCUBA REFRESHERS ~ If it’s been longer than 2 years since your last dive, then you’ll need a SCUBA REFRESHER. In this four hour class, instructors will share practical tips from their personal experience of diving and jump in the water with you to make sure you are comfortable setting up your gear, controlling your buoyancy and review your emergency skills. The class is offered three times each month, and is often required by a resort if you haven't been diving in a year. If you have been out of the water for longer than 10 years, you will need to schedule this class privately.

Call the shop at 303-220-8282 for more information or click here to register for our upcoming SCUBA Refresher courses.
