Meet Our Member, Tracy Spiaggia

Tracy, the owner of Slingshot Health Coaching in Frenchtown, has always been passionate about the physical, relational, and spiritual health of families.

At Monclair State University, she majored in Family/Child Studies with a minor in Law. After getting married and starting her family, she thought her life’s purpose would be best served raising her three children full-time. A health scare involving her then four-year old daughter changed her course.

Her daughter had been curiously suffering from excess mucus in her lungs. After more than a year of specialist appointments with scary potential diagnoses like cystic fibrosis and no definitive answers, Tracy took matters into her own hands.

With a longstanding history in the health and wellness field as a personal trainer and running coach, she had a framework to assess the issue from a more holistic perspective and discovered the root cause of the problem: a popular yogurt drink that she thought was healthy but learned it was actually toxic, filled with artificial dyes, sugars, preservatives, and poor quality dairy. When she stopped giving the drink to her daughter, the mucus disappeared!

This discovery spurred a fascination with the intersection between food and the body. In Tracy’s words, “If you change the input, you change the output.”

Tracy began educating herself on nutrition and lifestyle and earned many credentials, including becoming an Integrative Nutrition Coach, a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, an Amen Clinic Brain Health Specialist, a Functional Nutrition Counselor, a Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner, and an AACC Mental Health Coach. She finds tremendous inspiration and guidance through her strong Christian faith. She tied all of her life experiences together in her book “From Chained to Changed, Break Mental Strongholds and Transform Your Life Through Faith.”

Through her health coaching practice, Tracy serves clients of all ages and stages but specializes in working with moms. “It’s the mother that drives the culture of the home,” Tracy says. “I want to equip them with the right information so they can do what only moms can do, which is transform their homes and families.” In the coming years, Tracy seeks to expand her practice to include offering group presentations and programs so she can spread awareness on the profound mental health impacts of diet and lifestyle. In addition to serving her clients, Tracy enjoys spending time with her family, attending church, running and weight training, learning, and serving those in need.

Tracy was introduced to Impact100 Hunterdon by Founding Member and lifelong friend Christine Walker. She most appreciates that every dollar raised by the organization stays in Hunterdon County, and that women can band together to make an impact in their hometowns. Our Featured Sponsor, Shifting Gears Consulting

Colleen Duerr is the owner of Shifting Gears Consulting, a firm that provides support for nonprofits through development, communications, and process improvement project work. Colleen has helped multiple organizations access grant funding, improve their storytelling, produce more effective communication pieces, produce better data and outcomes, improve budgeting and financial reporting, execute strategic plans, and advance board participation and effectiveness.

Underlying all of this is a passion for helping nonprofit organizations further their mission. Colleen works hard to advocate for the sector, which is what attracted her to Impact100 Hunterdon and commit to being a sponsor.

Colleen says, “I know how difficult it is to work for a nonprofit. The work is hard and they face constant and unique challenges all while working for what is too often low salaries and never enough staff. I love that I can be part of something that provides a significant grant to a Hunterdon nonprofit. Our county is often overlooked when it comes to grant funding but we have plenty of need and also some really exciting initiatives for the betterment of our community. I’m thrilled to be able to support this important work through my membership and my sponsorship. I hope others feel inspired to do the same!"

Frequently Asked Questions

Our latest addition, each month we will feature a question and answer in response to what we are being asked by our members, nonprofits and community members.

Question:

Can Nonprofit Representatives be Members?

Answer:

Definitely! We welcome women from all sectors, including nonprofits. Those members would not likely be able to serve on the Grant Review team, as we take Conflict of Interest very seriously.

If the organization they represent did apply (and they might not), there is no guarantee that they would be selected as a finalist. But, if they were a finalist - it’s only one vote. So, we do not have concerns over nonprofits becoming members.

In fact, we welcome the knowledge and experience that a nonprofit representative might offer other members!
