Contractors are scheduled to perform utility work on Newport Avenue between El Camino Real and Nisson Road. Inside lanes on Newport Avenue will be closed in each direction from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, as well as Wednesday, Feb. 12 through Friday, Feb. 14. At least one lane in each direction will remain open during this time.

Work is underway to reconstruct the northbound SR-55 MacArthur Boulevard loop 

on-ramp, which required an extended closure of the ramp. Due to inclement weather, the ramp is now expected to reopen to motorists on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
