Losing even one person to drowning is too many. Last year, there were 44 fatal drownings in Orange County. Drowning is preventable if safeguards are taken. For this reason, Orange County Fire Authority launched a drowning prevention campaign focused on avoiding distractions while watching children near water and encouraging individuals to never swim alone.

Construction activity on Oak Street is wrapping up this week in anticipation to the start of the school year. Oak Street will be fully accessible with the start of school on Monday, August 15. Final street restoration and striping will take place on Saturday, August 13, and August 20.
