Halloween at New Heights
At New Heights, many of our students love Halloween! On Tuesday, October 31st, students and staff were welcome to dress up in Halloween costumes if they wanted to. From Mount Fable through T2A, there were so many creative and interesting costumes!

Happy Halloween 2023 from all of us at New Heights!
Drop off and Pick up: West parking lot update
A reminder that we use the North parking lot at the back of our building, as well as have the parking stalls facing our building in the West parking lot, just across Breskens Drive.

Our allocated parking stalls in the West parking lot are labelled with New Heights signs and also used for Access Calgary drop off. Due to the number of students using Access Calgary over the past couple of years, we now have 4 parking spots that are reserved for Access Calgary vehicles. This has increased from the 2 that were previously reserved. There are Access Calgary signs marking these spots. The rest of the stalls in the West parking lot that are not marked by an Access Calgary sign or a New Heights sign belong to Clear Water Academy.

The North parking lot has more availability at drop off and pick up times, and we encourage you to keep using this parking lot.

SPACE WEEK: November 14-17

During Space Week, one of our exciting activities is that New Heights has been chosen to participate in a program called ARISS (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station). Through this program our students will have a unique opportunity to talk directly with an astronaut on the International Space Station. Our contact with the ISS will be about 10-15 minutes long. We will be informed by NASA’s scheduling team of the exact day and time of this event by Nov. 6. For now all we know is that it will take place sometime between Nov 14-17.

In September students came up with a number of amazing questions they had for astronauts. Questions were submitted to NASA and once we have been given approval on the questions submitted, we will let students know who will have the opportunity to ask their question directly to the astronaut aboard the ISS. (We will be able to ask approximately 15 questions). The entire school will be able to participate via a Google Meet link with the Ground Station that we are assigned.

Additionally, there will be fun classroom activities such as working together to build our own Space Station; learning about Amateur Radio; designing Posters; tasting Space Food; creating Slideshow presentations; exploring Rockets and more!
