Growing apprenticeship spaces in northern Alberta
The apprenticeship seat expansion at Northwest Polytechnic aligns with the Government of Alberta’s plan to develop focused and flexible investment in the skilled trades to help ensure Albertans obtain needed skills for the modern economy.
The additional 80 seats are made possible by a $341,800 investment from Alberta’s government. All 80 seats are available for students in the current 2022-23 academic year.

Healthcare Action Plan: EMS response times
As part of the Healthcare Action Plan, Alberta’s government is working with Alberta Health Services (AHS) to improve emergency medical services (EMS) response times and open up acute care beds more quickly for Albertans waiting in the emergency department.
Instead of using highly trained paramedics for non-medical patient transfers like transporting patients home, AHS will arrange for alternative transportation. This program for non-clinical transports is for patients who do not require medical support during transport and are able to care for themselves on the way, including patients who are cleared to be transferred or discharged from a facility or acute care.

Community Revitalization Levy (CRL) Bylaw Passed
|
|
The City of Airdrie has a new tool to help fund revitalization in our Downtown: the Community Revitalization Levy (CRL) was developed by the province to allow municipalities to take specific actions, or to build infrastructure needed to spur on private investment by using the provincial portion of tax revenues from assessment increases in that same area.
Council deliberated and passed a Bylaw to enact the CRL on December 28th, 2022. Click the button below to watch the recording of the Council meeting and Stephen Kuntz's presentation beginning at minute 17:55.
