PAW PRINTS

September 2, 2022

Dear SMCS Parents,

Thank you for a great week! The teachers and I enjoyed seeing so many of you at our Back to School nights. Special thanks to PLUS for organizing the Spirit Gear Sale and pick-up.

We have lots of fun activities planned for September: Family Spaghetti Dinner, Donuts with Dad, School Family Weekend at Mass, and Pizza with Parents at lunch. Please be sure to read Paw Prints and your emails for more information.

Have a wonderful long Labor Day Weekend!

Blessings,

Dr. Kathleen Cox

Based on feedback that we have received from parents, we have updated/clarified some language in the parent-student handbook.

  • On page 37, we updated the following language regarding fevers and vomiting:

  • No student should be sent to school with a fever (temperature of 100 degrees or above) or vomiting. The student should remain at home until fever-free or with no vomiting for 24-48 hours.* If a student is sent home from school during a school day for fever or vomiting, they may not return to school the next school day.  Also, if your child has a fever or vomits while at home during the day, please do not send them to school the following day.  This requirement is for the safety of the student and his/her classmates.

  • On pages 45-46, we updated the following language regarding skirt length:

  • Skirt: Plaid with navy modesty shorts, and hem to fall no shorter than the top of the knee. * Students in 5th-8th grade will be given one warning and have five school days to make sure that their skirt is the proper length. After 5 school days from their first warning, they will be given a different skirt from the uniform closet if available and a citation.

  • On page 46, we updated the following language regarding khaki skirts for 6th-8th grade girls:

  • Skirt: Khaki, with navy modesty shorts, and hem to fall no shorter than the top of the knee. * Students will be given one warning and have five school days to make sure that their skirt is the proper length. After 5 school days from their first warning, they will be given a different skirt from the uniform closet if available and a citation. Khaki skirts may not be athletic material and should be purchased from Dennis uniforms.

The updated parent-student handbook is

available on the school website.
