CALIBRATION
As I was praying this morning, I heard the Lord speak the word “calibration.” When I think of calibration, I think of getting brakes corrected, but there is more to the definition than that.
One definition is: correlate the readings (of an instrument) with those of a “standard” in order to check the instrument’s (a gauge or instrument) accuracy.
Clocks must be calibrated so they are accurate. Pianos need to be calibrated so they are in tune. Brass instruments need adjustments to be on pitch. Stringed instruments need to be fine- tuned often so they are in pitch. A simple tightening of the strings does it!
So, what could God be saying to us? I believe he is saying that we need to make sure we are “in tune” with the word of God. There cannot be any error in what we believe if we are to be “calibrated” with the word. Often, we are on the right path, but we stray off the path with “little” sins, little white lies, unforgiveness, anger, doubt, etc. We must get rid of those things that cause us to “miss the mark.” It isn’t the huge sins he is speaking of. It is the little ones that grow into big ones that need calibration.
How is your love life with those that have hurt you? Does it need calibration? How about the ones that have offended you. Have you forgiven them, or do you need calibration in this area? And what about your personal time with God? Are you spending time or making excuses? Perhaps there needs to be some calibration there also.
You see, my friends, Jesus is coming for a bride without spot or blemish. A bride that has purified herself with repentance and seeks to be holy. A bride that Jesus will be ready to meet, ready for his marriage supper. You may not think “little things” mean a lot, but they do with God. He is concerned about the little things as well as the big things.
Take time to ask God to examine your heart and listen to what he says. If there is an area that needs to change or be calibrated, then yield to his loving hand that brings it into calibration. He does that for each of us when we ask.
Also, we cannot calibrate someone else. We can pray for them, but they must surrender their will to God, just like we do. Pray for them, but do not bash them. Prayers are a powerful way to bring calibration into some else’s life.
Then we must stay calibrated. It is not a one-time thing. It must be done daily to stay accurate with our Lord. Let him fine tune you daily and you will not need major calibration down the road by omitting this in your life. Think of yourself as a violin in the master’s hand. He adjusts the pitch (strings) so he can play a beautiful sound. That is what you are like to the Lord. You are the instrument and when allowed, he will bring a sound from you that He alone understands and is blessed and honored by. Be calibrated and stay calibrated! It will please God.
