Family Worship for Children and Youth

For this Sunday, Pastor Dan will be inviting all of our children and youth to join their families upstairs in the Sanctuary for an inclusive Family Worship Service!

There will be special bulletins for our children and youth, and those will include fun ways to follow along in the service, and will also include themed word finds, puzzles and coloring pages.

Pastor Dan’s Message and Sermon will be all about The Parable of the Talents.

Regular Children’s and Youth Worship will resume downstairs in Fellowship Hall on Sunday September 11th, with a special “Blessing of the Backpacks!”

All are welcome to a cookout and evening worship service this Sunday, September 4th

Weather permitting, we will gather on the lawn at the Parsonage for a service of music and messages. The musical genres for this evening service span from contemporary Christian to folk, gospel, pop, jazz, classic rock, and Broadway classics.

Come at 5:30 pm for some grilled hot dogs and hamburgers and please bring a chair/blanket, beverages, and picnic supplies. The service will begin at 6 pm.

Lackeys

109 Main Street Presentation Tuesday

The Town of Stowe has approved an addition to the Country Store building (formerly Lackey’s) adjacent to the Church. Construction is scheduled to begin this fall. We have asked the developer, Glenn Mink, to provide us with a presentation on the project; he and his architect will do so this Tuesday, September 6, at 1:30 pm in Fellowship Hall. Feel free to attend and learn about this significant project.

United Way

United Way Firewood Program!

We are in desperate need of delivery trucks and trailers!

United Way of Lamoille County 2022 Service Days:

  • Wednesday, Sep 7, 2022 (8:00am - noon)
  • Saturday, September 10th, from 8:00 am - 2:00 (delivery days)

Volunteers are needed to block, split, stack and deliver wood. People with chainsaws, wood splitters, trucks and trailers are essential. We have over 35 cords of wood to deliver (and more applications arriving daily). We are in desperate need of delivery trucks and trailers. (Imagine: a fleet of 10 trucks delivering in one weekend. That is my dream. :)

Please have people sign up here to volunteer and to learn more about the firewood program. (https://uwlamoille.org/programs/local-programs/firewood-program.html)

A deep, heartfelt thank you for offering your time and commitment to help our neighbors stay warm this winter. We couldn’t do it without you!

British Invasion Sale

Baked Goods Needed for British Invasion!

The Women’s Fellowship is looking for volunteers to provide baked goods and also to serve as hosts during next weekend’s British Invasion, Friday September 9th. Our vision is to have our beautiful sanctuary open and provide water and baked goods for the guests that evening, as well as make special SCC items and raffles available for the new quilt.

Please sign up in the Narthex for a specific time slot and email Lauretta Haugh for more information:

Volunteers

Looking for Volunteers!

Our Christian Education team is in need of volunteers for two areas of our ministry:

Nursery Care volunteers needed to snuggle with infants, build big towers, read books and let your imagination run wild while playing with our toddler group. Time commitment is once every 6 weeks (on a rotating basis)

K-5 Teaching assistants needed for our K-5th grade classes. Teaching our children is an important task and we need lots of volunteers to ensure we are providing a strong foundation of faith for our children. No preparation involved, just show up and help the teachers and students. Volunteer benefits - Lots of high fives, smiles, goldfish crackers and you may come away with a better understanding of a Bible story! Time commitment is once every 6 weeks (on a rotating basis).

Please reach out to Heather Stowe (heatherstoweis@gmail.com) or Chris DeRienzo (chrisd437@gmail.com) to volunteer.

Gospel Choir

Host Families Needed!

On December 3, our friends at Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center are inviting back The Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir. Many of our church members saw them last year and enjoyed the concert enormously. Housing will be needed for the members of this choir, and SPPAC is wondering if members of the congregation would be willing to open their homes that evening. If you can, please send a quick email to info@stowechurch.org.

VOCES8: Ave Maris Stella by Edvard Grieg

Another example of heavenly singing from VOCES8! Edvard Grieg's "Ave Maris Stella". When you put this group in a great acoustical space, you truly appreciate their spectacular singing.

VOCES8 Straighten Up and Fly Right

In case you've ever wondered who the individuals in VOCES8 are, here they introduce themselves in a concert on their U.S. Tour earlier this month in Katonah,NY. Plus demonstrate their talent with vocal jazz. The BBC Proms are well in progress. This Wednesday's concert featured British choral group The Sixteen." Here's one of the numbers they performed, Salve Regina.
