This month, Dean Nitecki reflects on recent Libraries events and projects that help build supportive and inclusive resources, services and systems for identifying and retrieving information resources.

On June 3, fifty Drexel students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members attended a virtual tour of the Drexel Audio Archives and the Sigma Sound Studios Collection. The event kicked off the Libraries’ newest series Promoting Diversity through Drexel’s Archival & Special Collections.

Earlier this spring, six Libraries staff completed Equity in Action: Fostering an Antiracist Library Culture,
a three-week continuing education course designed to help library leaders cultivate an antiracist culture within their organizations.

The Libraries recently migrated to a new archival collections system that brings together finding aids from the University Archives, the College of Medicine, and the Academy of Natural Sciences at Drexel University, all in one place.

During the Spring 2021 ScholarSip event, Drexel Engineering Professor Chris Sales discussed Drexel University’s new partnership with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) to study and develop measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on public transit.
