CTSI Funding Announcement

The KL2 program is a mentored career development program for BU's most promising junior faculty translational researchers. This program is committed to increasing the diversity of the research workforce and strongly encourages applications from underrepresented, racial, and ethnic groups (UREGs).


Junior faculty interested in applying are required to submit their

application by close of business Friday, January 19, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria


  • Must be US Citizen, non-citizen national, or a permanent resident.
  • Have MD/PhD/DDS or equivalent degree.
  • Have Junior Faculty appointment (Instructor or Assistant Professor) at Boston University as of March 31, 2024.
  • Cannot be PI of an R01 or NIH funded K award now or in the past or be a former or current project leader on subprojects for P01 or P50 grants.
  • Cannot have a pending K-award under review by the NIH.

  • NIH-formatted Biosketch
  • Mentor(s) NIH-formatted Biosketch
  • Financial Administrator name and contact information
  • Human Subjects certification, if applicable
  • Other support pages
  • Letters of Support from scholar’s research mentors
  • Letter of Support from Applicant’s Department Chair/Section Chief is required
  • 1-Page Abstract – Include the title of the project
  • 1-Page Specific Aims
  • Budget
  • 8-Page Research Proposal
