Hello NAWIC Members and Friends,
I hope your summer is off to a great start. The construction industry is certainly busy!
Thank you to everyone who attended our June mixer at Culinary Dropout. We had a relaxing evening while enjoying tasty treats, refreshing beverages, and good conversations.
Our chapter has many activities scheduled between now and the end of the year. Mark your calendar and join us at the following events:
July 13 -- Chapter Meeting
August 10 -- Chapter Meeting
August 13 -- NAWIC 19th Annual Shirley Dail Bowling Tournament
September 14 -- Chapter Meeting
October 12 -- Chapter Meeting
November 2 - 3 -Construction Career Days
December 3 -- NAWIC Night at the Gaslight
The NAWIC Annual Conference is coming up August 17-20 in Minneapolis. Attend and immerse yourself in all things related to women in construction. The conference is open to all members, not just chapter leadership. OSHA training will be held, plus, a plethora of breakout sessions and keynote speakers are offered. It is an ideal opportunity to meet with women construction professionals from every facet of construction and from across our country. I will be representing our chapter and would be thrilled to see many Tucson Chapter sisters in attendance!
So, until we meet again, stay hydrated and cool! See you July 13th!
Cheers,
Susan Stein Kregar

|
|
All proceeds benefited the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, and will go towards building healthy, hunger-free communities. Each team’s creation was judged in various categories such as Best Meal, People’s Choice, and more. This year’s theme is Southwest.

Hi All! I am the owner of Medra Construction, LLC (MEDRA) located in Tucson. MEDRA is Spanish for growth, prosperity and good fortune and is a tribute to my Hispanic culture. We are a concrete subcontractor specializing in civil work for the federal and commercial markets and have extensive experience performing on a wide range of projects including military projects with the United States Army Corp of Engineers and 355 CONS at Davis Monthan AFB. As a woman owned business, I take huge pride in helping the military towards their mission. I am from the beautiful wine country of Elgin, AZ about an hour south from Tucson. If you have never visited I always recommend taking a day to visit all the local breweries/wineries down there. I graduated from the Eller Business college at the University of Arizona in 2017 and have been working full time at MEDRA since then. When I am not working some of my favorite activities include target shooting, weight lifting, and wake surfing. I’m eagerly looking forward to meeting more women in this industry.

I started out in the construction field in 2012 as a laborer for a GC. From there I did my best to learn from others around me and eventually started doing drywall. One day I was volunteered to take my OSHA 10 and OSHA 30. I ended up really enjoying safety so I pursued it from there. I’ve been in a safety role now for the past 8 years. I earned my AAS in Occupational Safety and Health from Gateway Community College and last year earned my CHST from the BCSP. I am currently studying for my ASP.
DPR Construction is a forward-thinking, self-performing general contractor and construction manager specializing in technically complex and sustainable projects for the advanced technology, life sciences, healthcare, higher education and commercial markets. DPR’s portfolio of work ranges from large-scale new construction to small tenant improvements and special projects. Strategically focused on delivering more predictable outcomes through applications of virtual design & construction, prefabrication, its corps of self-perform craft, and leveraging data to learn and improve from, DPR consistently ranks among the top building contractors and employs approximately 9,000 professionals across its family of companies.
