Dear Friend of MCF,

We hope your summer is off to a good start and you are enjoying our area’s beautiful parks, beaches, farmstands, and other natural attributes! This is a wonderful time of year with longer days and not-too-hot temperatures. It’s the perfect time to lace up your running shoes and join us for our Summer Run for Conservation 5K run/walk! Registration is open now, and all ages are welcome.

We are thrilled to share news this month about a newly preserved farm in Colts Neck and the thoughtful family who calls it home. Our preservation efforts are driven by funding from our generous patrons and grant programs and enabled by our many collaborations with local governments and partners. We thank you for your involvement!

Sincerely,

William D. Kastning, AICP

Mike and Eileen Stivala have built a beautiful farm home that will now be preserved forever as a quintessential example of rural life in Colts Neck, New Jersey. Over the past 38 years, the couple has crafted their approximately 19-acre farm with sustainable features and a genuine respect for its natural attributes, choosing to live life differently as true stewards of their land.

And they’re off! Isabelle Ferreira and her all-female team, the Wave Peddlers, are cycling from Niagara Falls, Canada to Jackson Woods Park in Long Branch, New Jersey as a fundraiser for the park.

They embarked on June 26 and are scheduled to arrive on July 7, 2022. All funds raised in support of the Ride for Jackson Woods will support further improvements at the park.
