TRURO RECREATION AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM UPDATE

The Truro Recreation Department is excited to introduce our new staff members Adam Leiterman, Robin Huibregtse, Julia Morris, and Britta Lower! These wonderful people make up the staff for our new Out-of-School-Time Community Sustainability Program. Adam is the Program Supervisor while Robin, Julia, and Britta are our new Program Leaders. 

Adam Lieterman

Adam hails from Green Bay, WI but has been a New Englander since obtaining his master’s degree in environmental education from the University of New Hampshire in 2005. Immediately upon graduation he began working for the NEED Collaborative in Truro and knew this would be his new home. After moving away for a few years, he and his family are overjoyed to return! You may contact Adam at aleiterman@truro-ma.gov.   



Robin Huibregtse


Robin has a master's in elementary education and tons of experience leading after school and summer programs that involve games, art, music, literature, and science. As a former behavior teacher, Robin is familiar with the challenges young kids face and has many SEL activities and strategies to assist students. She spends her free time working as an artist, musician, writer, and actor.

Julia Morris


Julia is a local resident of Truro who recently graduated Nauset Regional High School. She has a passion for helping others and views this as an exciting new opportunity to give back to her community.


Britta Lower

Britta has a Bachelor of Science in General Studies with a focus in Elementary Education for grades K-6 and a minor in Special Education for grades K-12. She has worked in Florida since 2017 as a teacher and curriculum specialist helping students of all ages and backgrounds.

About the Program

Hours

The After School Program will take place at Truro Central School Monday through Friday from 3:00pm to 5:30pm, free of charge for all TCS students and Truro residents. The program's tentative start date is early January.


Mission

The focus of this program will be academic support, social & emotional development, play, and exploration! Students will have the option to engage in a variety of hands-on experiences that will nurture curiosity and community, such as homework, play time, nature exploration, gardening, and much more!   

Working with Truro Central School

The Truro Recreation Department is committed to working with Truro Central School staff to ensure a consistent educational and age-appropriate developmental model. This will entail modeling expected behavior, using consistent language, upholding TCS student expectations, and consulting with teachers to ensure appropriate academic support upon parental approval.
