Client Success Story
Elsa F., Bridges to College & Careers - English for Academic Success Pathway
Originally from Cape Verde, Elsa came to the US to continue her college education. However, upon her arrival in 2008, she realized her English language skills were not strong enough. Instead of enrolling in English classes, Elsa choose to pause her educational pursuits so she could work and help finance the education of her five siblings.

In July 2021, Elsa was finally able to prioritize her own education. Through a friend, she learned about JVS and enrolled in the English for Academic Success (EAS) pathway of Bridges to College & Careers (BTCC) to improve her language skills. Immediately after completing the EAS pathway, she enrolled in the General Studies pathway. Not only did Elsa excel in the program, she was also asked to be one of the student speakers at the BTCC celebration earlier this month! This fall, Elsa will continue her education at Bunker Hill Community College.
