Fall Markets on Sept. 7 & Oct. 22


Enjoy an afternoon of shopping and fun at two upcoming Pioneer Square Fall Markets.


Both events are hosted at Occidental Square on Thursday, September 7th from 1p-7p and Sunday, October 22nd from 11a-4p, and admission is free. With up to 40 local vendors and artists offering handmade crafts, delicious food, and unique gifts, you’re sure to find something special to take home with you. Avery Barnes Recognized in Forbes 30 Under 30


TASWIRA’s founder Avery Barnes is honored in the inaugural Forbes 30 Under 30 Seattle.


Avery is recognized for her community impact and innovative approach to the local art gallery scene. She founded Pioneer Square art gallery TASWIRA, celebrating Black and African arts and culture.

The Satterberg Foundation's Call for Artists


The Satterberg Foundation is seeking 2D artworks to be featured as part of a community art collection for the Metropole Building’s interior.


The foundation will purchase chosen artworks from selected artists at a price of $1500-$5000 — based on the location, complexity, materiality, and dimensions of the proposed artwork. Learn more about the project and how to submit a proposal.

Movies at the Park: City Hall Park


Join us on September 10th for an afternoon in City Hall Park for a movie screening of 2004's Friday Night Lights.


The movie begins at 12p and is free to the public. Feel free to bring blankets and snacks to enhance your movie watching experience. This project is funded in part by Seattle Parks and Recreation.

Neighborhood Construction Updates

The East West Connection project starts in fall 2023 and will continue through fall 2024.


Construction will begin on S Washington Street and S Main Street, between 1st Ave S and Alaskan Way S. 


The project aims to improve accessibility for people of all ages and abilities and provide safe, convenient, and graceful pedestrian connections. It will also reduce the number of vehicle travel lanes and limit traffic flow directions on portions of these streets in order to move vehicles away from structurally vulnerable areaways and optimize traffic operations and circulation.

What made you choose to open your store here in Pioneer Square in 2009?


There are so many things we love about Pioneer Square! We enjoy the community so very much. After being open almost 12 years now in the Square, we have had the luck of getting to know so many of our amazing neighbors that live and work in the neighborhood that have all become great friends.

Could you tell us a little about yourself?


Born and raised in the Seattle area, I’ve been drawn to Pioneer Square since I was a kid. I remember going on Bill Speidel’s Underground Tour as a part of a field trip in elementary school, and I was absolutely amazed by everything I saw that day. I also lived in the neighborhood a couple of years back, so Pioneer Square has always had a place in my heart.
