This is the month that we celebrate being thankful, having wonderful men in our lives, officially ushering in the winter holiday season, and at the end of the month GIVING TUESDAY! It is during this time of year that people tend to be more joyful, cheery, and generous. As you’re feeling all warm and fuzzy this

month, don’t forget us and our beneficiaries in Kenya East Africa who receive support from our donors of Dorcas Destiny International. You’ll see other notes about GivingTuesday and how to support us throughout this newsletter. Thank you in advance for all you do to help us help others who need those basic things we all enjoy!

Let’s celebrate the Joy of Giving on November 28

It is probably safe to say that everyone really wants to do well. Though life throws some challenges at us, and the world is in chaos, those in Christ Jesus can do well. You may be thinking, “How can I do well?” I am glad that you asked. In 3 John 1:6 John is writing to Gaius and commends the brothers in the church for their partnership with the saints. The scripture says, “You do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God.” Participating in Giving Tuesday, supporting DDI’s long-time work, or partnering with a short-term missionary are all ways to do well.

As you are preparing to share a special gift with us for #GivingTuesday, the kids have something to tell you.

We hope you find a reason to give! We need your help to reach our goal of 50 new monthly partners and supporters!

EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM 

(My experience as a facilitator)

SHARON

My name is Sharon. I am the coordinator of the Education Enrichment Program at Victory School in Baba Dogo. We started the program in March 2023 to help the children at Victory be exposed to the best kind of school experience we can share. We are a group of five, and four of my team members are volunteers. Our program involves motivational talks which are done on Monday, games which are conducted on Wednesday, and arts and crafts done on Friday. We engage them to boost their thinking and sharpen their life skills as they grow.

JOHN

Initially, the children were not as engaged in some of the

activities we did, for different reasons. Over time they showed signs of wanting to be engaged in what is done by the other children as it gave them an opportunity to be expressive and not have a sense of fear of criticism, such as arts and crafts and games activities. In as much as they come from a marginalized community, you could see and feel that they were experiencing something similar, if not better than other children that come from privileged backgrounds.

MARYJOY

Supporting Victory School has offered me a wealth of experience My hope is that the kids at the school continue with their education past the elementary level. It is up to us, to showcase the importance and benefits of education and thus foster a drive to seek it, pursue it, and eventually maybe tear down two walls, thus gaining access to twice as many opportunities.

BRENDA

A teacher is a guide to her or his students, a mentor, and most importantly a friend, the very first friend to their students and because of that we all remember all our teachers in our lifetime for the many roles they play. In the months that have been in DDI, I have interacted with my team members and appreciated their dedication to the course and their willingness to learn more to teach well the students at Victory School. Have also interacted with Donna, the founder, on various occasions, virtually and physically, and was in awe of her determination as well as her team in helping every child in Victory School. As my journey continues here, I wish many people to be a part of this story, for a hand that gives does receive.

BERYL

I have taught grade four and I love it because they are older and take up instructions easily. It is not that hard dealing with them even though at first they used to see me as their age mate, and respect was minimal and I had to make things clear with them and all turned out well. Most of them are focused and according to my observation, they are happy with me teaching them and I enjoy interacting with them.
