How to respond when your scholar says “I hate school.”

Not all scholars who say they hate school actually hate it. Some scholars are looking for attention or a response. Scholars could be looking for an opportunity to put off school work. If your scholar is constantly saying that they hate school, there may be something going on. Here are some tips to help approach these situations.

• Have a discussion.
• “What’s making you feel this way?”
• Identify the problem.
• Is it a specific subject?
• Are they feeling overwhelmed?
• Help find solutions.
• Spending more time working on a subject each day.
• Help your scholar find a balance to their schedule.
• Remain positive.
• Identify the pros and cons of any situation and focus on the positives.
• Talk to your scholar’s teachers.
• When families and instructors work together, scholars are more likely to succeed.

Give to the Snowstorm Holiday Teacher Appreciation

Snowstorm is an easy way to show love to our teachers during the holidays. In lieu of gifts for each of your scholar’s teachers, show your appreciation by giving an offering of thanks to be divided among Trivum Prep faculty and staff. Snowstorm is a unique opportunity to show support to our wonderful community and is a beloved tradition here at Trivium Prep. A donations of ANY amount is greatly appreciated, after first giving to Community Investment.

Families who contribute to Snowstorm will have their name printed in a holiday card presented to teachers during a special holiday breakfast in December.

The Trivium Lady Knights Volleyball team has advanced to the Semifinals versus St. Johns. Come out Thursday night, November 9 at 7 pm to Willow Canyon High School to cheer them on! Tickets can be purchased online at: https://gofan.co/event/1175281

Trivium FFA invites any Trivium Prep student or faculty who has a family member that is either active military or veteran to join us for our "Pancakes with Patriots" breakfast on Friday, November 10 at 8am in the Trivium gym. If your child did not come to the book fair, or if we were out of a specific title, we have an online book fair open and the school still gets 50% credit towards new books for the school and classroom libraries. Join us for the Middle School Musical Theater's production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" on the Trivium Stage, November 16-18 at 7pm!

Tickets are CASH only at the door: $5 for students and $10 for adults. Children 5 and under are free. Concessions and Fan Mail will be available for purchase before the show and during intermission. 

The production will take place in the gym. Seating is first come, first serve.

Open Enrollment is Coming! Great Hearts Open Enrollment for new families is coming November 6-December 8, 2023. This enrollment is primarily for students applying for in Kindergarten in 2024-25 and 5th grade students applying for 6th Grade enrollment at Trivium Prep in 2024-25.

Current 6th-12th grade students DO NOT participate in Open Enrollment. Re-enrollment for 6th-11th Grade families will take place in March 2024. More information to follow.

New this year, each grade level at Trivium Prep will have the opportunity to share a breakfast together before school during the school year. Our next breakfast is for 11th Grade students on Friday, November 17 at 7 AM. Sign up below to bring in food/drinks. Donations should be sent in with your student the morning of the breakfast.

Volunteer at the Knight Nation Snack Station!

Come out and support your school, cheer on the team and meet your community! Snack Bar is in need of volunteers for the upcoming 2023 Varsity Football & Volleyball Season. Volunteers will be selling to patrons, accepting payments, serving hot food, drinks, candy & snacks. MS, HS & Prep family volunteers are welcome! Please Note: Middle school scholars require an adult to sign up to volunteer. We apologize, but at this time we are unable to allow children to volunteer at the snack bar. Great Hearts continues to nurture our great relationship with Barca Residency Academy in Casa Grande (FC Barcelona’s exclusive National Residency Academy). Last year, we hosted the first ever Barça Soccer Camp at Scottsdale Prep. This year, we are happy to announce that we will be hosting it again on December 20-23 for boys and girls ages 6-14 years old! All Great Hearts students will have the opportunity to have a 10% reduced rate until December 3. Space is limited, so register today!

Bo Faser (10th grade math teacher) has partnered with EF Tours to lead a group of students on a tour of Ireland, Scotland, and England in July 2024. We would love for you to be a part of it.

For Trivium Prep's Middle School Community Service Event, we are partnering up with the City of Goodyear for the annual Make a Difference Day on Saturday, October 28.

The event we have signed up for is at the Goodyear Community Park – 3151 N. Litchfield Rd. to paint fire lane curbs. We need at least 10 student volunteers. It will take 3-4 hours. Supplies will be provided. Volunteers should wear gloves, hat, and sunscreen. 

Each student should have an adult responsible for them at the event. One adult can bring several Middle School students.

The time is listed as 6:45am to 12:00pm. More specifics will be emailed out as the event gets closer. Info from City of Goodyear:

"Make a Difference Day is an all-encompassing national day of service dedicated to helping others - a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. On Saturday, October 28, 2023, the City of Goodyear will celebrate Make A Difference Day for the 16th consecutive year."

Parents, please help in making sure your scholar is eating breakfast every morning and either packing a lunch or ordering one from our Hot Lunch meal program. We are also asking for donations of the following items to help support our scholars:

• Granola bars/crackers/ ready to eat soups or cups of noodles
• Lysol sanitizing wipes
• Water bottles

If you would like to donate these items this would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be left in the front office labeled for the Trivium Prep nurse. Thank you!

Student parking permits are now available to Sophomores (in addition to Juniors and Seniors). Please register and pay online. Space is limited and sales are first-come, first-served. Students must complete registration and receive their parking permit before they being parking on campus.

The Trivium Lunch Program is entirely managed and distributed by our Parent Service Organization volunteers. This program is open to all students, faculty, and staff at Trivium. 

Volunteer in the Lunch Room

Sign up as a volunteer to help distribute lunches and receive free lunch from My Hot Lunchbox! (Volunteer clearance is required to volunteer). We will be awarding a $5 a day/per person credit to each school. All credits will be applied at the end of each month. Please email our lunch coordinator at psolunch@archwaytrivium.org if you have any questions regarding the credits. Thank you for helping to make the lunch program a success at our school!

Lunchroom Reminders - Utensils

As a reminder, students are expected to bring utensils with them when bringing a lunch from home. Hot lunch vendors provide a limited amount of plasticware that is intended for those students who have ordered hot lunch. Thank you!

Volunteers who currently have Raptor clearance can begin registering now to continue volunteering next year. You should receive an email from Raptor as a reminder prompting you to reapply.

New volunteers for next year who do not have current Raptor clearance should wait until July 1 or after to apply for the 23-24 school year.

Student Lock Replacement

Students are required to use school-issued locks on their lockers. If your child's lock is missing, please have them notify the Student Deans. If a lock needs to be replaced, the Deans will notify you via Jupiter and a lock replacement fee may be assessed.

Used Uniform Donations

Did you know there is a bin for uniform donations in the Trivium front office?

If you have used school uniforms that you no longer need, you are welcome to drop off items here anytime throughout the school year. They will used to support the PSO Uniform Exchange, the school health office and other needs. School Messenger Communication

Great Hearts and Trivium Prep continue to utilize the system School Messenger for emails, robo-calls, and text messaging to inform families of campus related academy emergencies and other communications. SchoolMessenger has a new automatic opt-in for text feature. During the registration/re-enrollment process families confirmed their wish to participate in text communications. Great Hearts will now automatically opt in contact information given during the registration/re-enrollment process with the options you selected. You will notice at the beginning of July you will be opted in for text messaging. If you would like to opt out of text messages simply reply STOP to the text from 67585. You can also enter the code 67585 with the message STOP to block any text messaging. Please note, if opting out, you will not receive texts regarding emergencies on campus.
