Drinking Water Work Group Fellow Opportunities
|
Work Group Fellow
The Drinking Water Work Group is seeking a fellow (PhD or doctoral student) to provide work group management support. Responsibilities would include managing meeting logistics, assisting in organizing meeting agendas and notes, and arranging guest speakers for group meetings. It would also entail managing potential projects emerging from the group. A $1000 stipend is available.
Water in Schools Implementation Toolkit Project Fellows
As part of the NOPREN Drinking Water Work Group Water in Schools Implementation Toolkit Project, we are looking for two project fellows to support literature reviews, policy scans and product development tasks related to our work group project from September 2023 - August 2024. The work group project fellows will assist key collaborators with knowledge of drinking water, educational policy and programs, and implementation approaches in conducting a search of existing materials to inform the update and development of a drinking water in school policy implementation toolkit. A stipend of $2000 per fellow is available for this opportunity.

As part of the HER NOPREN Summer Speaker Series, six students were selected to develop a poster highlighting their summer research or public health nutrition practicum experience. Topics include sugar-sweetened beverage taxes, household food sourcing and food security, food is medicine interventions, healthy food marketing, universal school meals, and federal nutrition assistance programs. Hunger Solutions Institute at Auburn University - SNAP Healthy Eating Incentives Research Workshop (in-person), 10/11/23-10/12/23:
We welcome researchers with current interests in programs such as GusNIP or local/retailer-specific SNAP healthy eating incentive programs. Workshop attendees will present ongoing research work and have time to discuss cross-project collaborations. The workshop will be in Auburn (AL), which is within easy reach of the Atlanta airport. All travel, lodging and food for workshop attendees will be covered by a USDA conference grant. If you are interested, please email Joel Cuffey at Auburn University (cuffey@auburn.edu) and include a brief abstract of the SNAP incentive-related research you would like to present.

This digest is based on a compilation of news services and listservs developed by Sheila Fleischhacker, PhD, JD, RDN during her time as co-chair of the HER NOPREN COVID-19 Food & Nutrition Work Group and operationalized on a weekly basis by HER. The new bi-weekly digest is created by NOPREN and reviewed by Dr. Fleischhacker. The digest is jointly supported by Healthy Eating Research (HER) and the Nutrition and Obesity Policy Research and Evaluation Network (NOPREN).
