Cultivating Generosity

& Our New Member Ceremony

(In Person & Zoom)

In this time of war, uncertainty and urgency, we need one another; to sing songs of solace and strength, to offer prayers of peace and empowerment, and to cultivate a generosity of substance and spirit; these will sustain us in times of peace and unrest.

This is our work and the reason for being in beloved community with one another. This morning we will also celebrate and welcome new members to the congregation: Patty Bernstein, Janie Gleghorn, Joe Griffin, Anne Hayes, Cam McKay, Pamela Sundell. Our Beloved Community is enriched by their joining.

Worship Leader: Rev Ben Meyers

Worship Associates: Ginny Aragon & Bonnie McDonald

Upcoming services:

Nov 12: Peace Heroes

Nov 19: Our Fabulous Volunteers!

Nov 26: Harvesting Gratitude & Abundance: Thanksgiving Weekend

If you would like to revisit a past service, please go to "Service Archive" on our YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@UUFSCCAptos8123 .

Our goal is to provide a meaningful worship experience for all—

for those who can attend in-person and for those who can’t.

November Shared Plate:

Unitarian Universalist

Service Committee (UUSC)

This month we share our Sunday collection with UUSC and their annual Guest at Your Table program. UUSC advances human rights by partnering with over 70 grassroots justice organizations and advocates in 22 countries, providing support, political pressure, media awareness, technical skills, and financing to change the systems that cause injustices.

Areas to advance human rights include Climate Justice, International Justice, Migrant Justice, and Crisis Response. In addition to the shared plate, you can invite a "virtual" partner into your home by placing a Guest At Your Table box at your dinner table. Engage in family discussion about their work and set aside money at mealtimes.

This year's theme, Pursuing Liberation, highlights leaders working on a legislative path to permanent residency for those on Temporary Protected Status, work in the Pacific to address climate-forced displacement, and people of color in Poland fleeing from Ukraine. This week, you can hear from Ana Lorena Delgadillo, with FJEDD, who supports individuals and families impacted by human rights violations in Mexico and Central America at https://vimeo.com/866150869/3c90f29b78.

UUFSCC friend Teri Wiss will match these donations made to UUSC during this collection, making your donation go even further!

If you would like to make a larger donation, $150 or more, which would qualify for an additional financial match, talk to Teri or Chuck Torrey for details.

Text Scam Alert

Please be aware that some members of our congregation have recently received text messages from a phone number impersonating church leaders and asking for gift cards to be purchased.

If you are ever in doubt of whom you are receiving a text from, check the UUFSCC directory to verify the individual's phone number and call/email the office to report the suspicious activity.

For this reason, we will no longer share phone numbers in our Current Happenings newsletter. Thank you for your understanding and your diligence in keeping our Beloved community safe from fraud.
