Healthy Holiday Challenge

Week 5, December 5-9

“Do something today that your future self will thank you for.”

-Sean Patrick Flanery

This Week's Theme:

Mobility and Movement

With any health related challenge, one of the most common areas individuals want to improve upon is their physical fitness. Of the many recommendations for improving in this area, one of the most consistent suggestions is for individuals to move more throughout the day. Although moving more may seem like a simple concept, many people do not move enough throughout the day.

This week, we will focus on this theme of movement and will also touch upon mobility and stretching. Movement and stretching, especially when you have been seated for prolonged periods of time, can increase the functionality of your joints, strengthen your muscles, and improve your flexibility, balance, and coordination. Incorporating more movement and stretching into your week is also much easier than many people think and can be as simple as taking a walk during a work break or even just standing and stretching at your work station.

As we progress through the week, keep an eye out for our daily postcards, which will feature different stretches that you can try out! To learn more about the importance of movement, check out this week's featured video!

This Week's Challenge:

For this week's challenge, try to get active! This challenge can be done as an individual, but if possible, try to complete this with a colleague or your team! Whether you work remotely or on campus, try to find time to get moving. This can be anything from going on a walk together, doing a class (either in person or virtually), or doing a workout together!

Take a picture of you completing the challenge and feel free to post it on this week's shared album! Click the link below to access the album and check out the whole challenge album to see all of the pictures throughout the challenge!
