Last week, a group from Blowing Rock rolled into Raleigh along with about 70 Chamber of Commerce delegates from more than 12 Western North Carolina counties to present a comprehensive voice of WNC business.
Everyone gathered for a reception at the Bridge Club to chat with members of the General Assembly, socialize with other chamber delegates, and eat delicious fried catfish. The group heard from engaging speakers such as Secretary Kinsley from the Department of Health and Human Services, political analyst Joe Stewart, NC Chamber President Gary Salamido, and Peter Daniel from Duke Energy. Afterward, the group headed over to the General Assembly to meet with their representatives and discuss the issues vital to our regional business environment.
The Blowing Rock delegation including Ellen Harrell, Erin O’Hara, Chelsea Garrett, Melissa Pickett, and William Brinker went to dinner with Senator Ralph Hise and Representative Ray Pickett. The following day, Representative Pickett took the group on a tour of the Legislative Building. Many thanks to Senator Hise and Representative Pickett for all they do on our behalf at the Legislature. Thank you to the Blowing Rock Chamber members who took their own time and resources to make this trip.
Be sure to join us next year to be a voice for Western North Carolina!
