We look forward to hosting our next Ethical Leadership Conference (ELC) for high school juniors and seniors on September 23 and 24, 2022.

 

The conference leverages lessons from the life and example of George C. Marshall, whose career as a soldier and statesman serves as a positive and timeless model of effective ethical leadership and “five-star character.”

September 15 Foreign Policy Forum with Major General James A. “Spider” Marks

A national security contributor to CNN and member of the Military Intelligence Hall of Fame, Marks served over 30 years in uniform, including as Commanding General of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center and School.

Join us at Dodona Manor on Wednesday, September 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. ET to soak up exclusive oral history from historian Dr. Robert C. Holcomb, who will share the story of General Marshall’s acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1953. 

 

Dr. Robert C. Holcomb is an adjunct staff member in the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) in Alexandria, Virginia. His upcoming book, Stone Tapestry: A Tour Through the West Point Cemetery and American History will be published in Spring/Summer 2023. The book takes readers on a walking tour through the cemetery at the United States Military Academy and highlights the lives and accomplishments of 165 people buried there.

Winning the Peace: Experience Dodona’s Newest Exhibit

“The remedy lies in breaking the vicious circle and restoring the confidence of the European people.”

This tweet-worthy quote by Secretary of State George C. Marshall sums up the state of post-war Europe on the eve of the European Recovery Plan. It is also featured on the quote panel that is part of our new Winning the Peace exhibit now on display in the Haub Room Dodona Manor.


The exhibit features original images and objects rarely seen by the public.

September 7 Book Club: The Great Rift

Join us on Wednesday, September 7 from 12 to 1 p.m. for a Zoom discussion of The Great Rift by James Mann. The Great Rift is a sweeping history of the intertwined careers of Dick Cheney and Colin Powell, whose rivalry and conflicting views of U.S. national security color our political debate to this day.


In a wide-ranging, deeply researched and dramatic narrative, Mann explores each man’s biography and philosophical predispositions to show how and why this deep and permanent rupture occurred.
