Belief in God in U.S.
Dips to 81%, a New Low
The vast majority of U.S. adults believe in God, but that is six percentage points below 2017...
and the lowest in Gallup's trend.
Between 1944 and 2011, more than 90% of Americans believed in God.
17% of Americans say they do not believe in God.
Since it was first asked in 1944
(then 1947, twice each in 1950s and 1960s).
the answers were a consistent 98% believed in God.
In 2011, 92% of Americans said they believed in God.
We who believe in God know that
God answers prayer and can intervene.
YES! We can do something...
Rise to our country's evangelization challenge!!!
Let's pray together and
Learn how to draw others to God through normal, simple kindness and learn easy ways to invite when hearts are open.
Turn this trend towards God!

GOSPEL READING REFLECTION
For June 26, 2022
The Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
******************************************************************************
GOD MUST COME FIRST
"And another said, “I will follow you, Lord,
but first let me say farewell to my family at home.”
To him Jesus said, “No one who sets a hand to the plow
and looks to what was left behind is fit for the kingdom of God.”
- Today’s Gospel records four things Jesus’ friends say to him. Each statement gets a different response than the speaker expected.
-
James and John say, “Let’s destroy the Samaritan village that rejected us!” This earns them a rebuke.
-
The second speaker was really thinking something like, “If I follow the Messiah faithfully I’ll end up in a palace!” Jesus tells him, You won’t have a home on earth.
-
The third means, “Sure, I’ll follow you, Lord. Just let me wait till my father dies, whenever that will be.” Jesus’ answer: The time is now.
-
The fourth appears to think: “I can keep a nice balance between my old life and what you ask of me, Lord.” Jesus’ answer is: I want a total commitment.
-
Following Christ demands a radical change. The change is that we orient our life to Christ. As St. Paul just reminded us, we live according to the Spirit, that is, loving God and neighbor assisted by grace, not according to the flesh, that is, selfishly using others.
- Today, a powerful minority, increasingly backed by government, education, big business, and the mass media is demanding that we adapt our Catholic faith to their ideology. Overall, they want us to leave our Catholic faith—especially our morality—outside public life.
- What do you think Christ would say? Faced with a similar demand, the Apostles said, “We must obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29).
- Where was Jesus Christ headed when he answered the questions in today’s Gospel? He was going to Jerusalem to die on the Cross. Fidelity to our Catholic Faith has that price. That price is not too high because “The Lord is our inheritance.”

ANSWER TO QUIZ
June is the month of the
Sacred Heart of Jesus
simply because the
Solemnity of the Sacred Heart is
celebrated during it.
This year, the solemnity falls on June 24.
The date changes each year because
it follows the feasts of the Easter season.
It is celebrated on the Friday after the Corpus Christi octave,
(the Friday after the second Sunday after Pentecost).
However, there are other reasons for June's dedication
to the Sacred Heart.
The feast dates back to 1673,
when a French nun in the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary,
in eastern France, began receiving visions about the Sacred Heart.
Jesus appeared to Sister Margaret Mary Alacoque
and revealed ways to venerate his Sacred Heart,
explaining the immense love he has for humanity.
These approved visions continued for 18 months.

made to Sister Margaret Mary:
