Inventory Up, Prices Up!
Good Real Estate News! For the second month in a row, inventory is up in Sarasota County, according to RASM, the Realtors Association of Sarasota and Manatee. It also reports the highest-recorded prices for all property types, fewer closed sales, and an increase in new listings.
With everyone talking about rising interest rates and inflationary pressures, sales begin to decrease, and the number of properties on the market increases. Some of this is cyclical based on the time of year since we are in our summer slowdown, but higher interest rates and inflation are certainly beginning to impact our market. READ MORE

Being from Dallas, I was raised on Texas BBQ. Our pride is in making brisket the old-fashion way with just wood, smoke, and time. Now that I live in Florida, I yearn for a "home-cooked" meal that evokes childhood memories. Here are a few of my favorite BBQ places in Sarasota where you can either dine-in, order take out from a growing number of delivery services, or cater a backyard BBQ.
Brick's Smoked Meats is true to the Central-Texas "low and slow" way. It's a favorite family eatery and a fun place to watch them prepare meals. There's an open-air kitchen with a smoker called "Big Red." Now, that's real Texan! Their bar serves great whiskeys and tequilas. The big menu includes tasty smoked brisket and ribs, the Texas Trio Choice with three smoked types of meat, and great fish tacos. If you don't love smoked meat, try the hand-cut steaks (Cowboy Rib-eye) or other non-smoked choices.
