Room Parents, Art Smart & Service Program Volunteer Sign-up Will Go Live on Thursday 8/25 at 7:30 pm!
Volunteers Needed! We will be opening a sign-up tomorrow, Thursday, August 25 at 7:30pm for these positions. If you are interested in volunteering in this capacity, please be sure to check your email for the link to sign up! This sign up will close on Friday, September 9th at 5pm!
Volunteer positions like Room Parent and Art Smart Grade Level Leads are mostly administrative and are great for someone who may be looking for a volunteer job that can be done according to your own schedule!
Room Parent (PK3-7): The Room Parent serves as an administrative liaison and coordinates parent volunteers as needed per the teacher’s request. They send reminders to those parents who have signed up for a party or field trip, find substitutions if volunteers are no longer available and make sure the teachers are aware of who is coming in to volunteer. FSA will administer the online-volunteer signup for each classroom’s events and the room parents will receive the list of those that have signed up from FSA. Please note that the sign-up for specific classroom volunteer opportunities like parties and field trips will be sent mid- to late September.
Art Smart Grade Level Lead (K-6): Each class should have an Art Smart Lead. Grade level leads coordinate the dates for the classroom lessons with the teachers, work together to assign and coordinate Art Smart Volunteers for each of classroom lessons, send reminders about the visits to the Art Smart volunteers, and manage the grade-level supplies for the lessons.
ArtSmart Volunteer (K-6): The goal of the ArtSmart program is to teach students about artists and art forms by using an inquiry based discussion followed by a hands-on activity exploring the artistic topic further. A team of parent volunteers lead a discussion and project. Lesson plans, notes and projects will be provided to each parent. The volunteers need not have a background in art, just a little bit of imagination and a lot of enthusiasm!
Service Program Volunteer (PK4-6): The school community has committed itself to providing an integrated service program that connects meaningful service opportunities with curriculum based learning and prayerful reflection. The program is run by parent volunteers in consultation with classroom teachers. Volunteers are needed for each classroom to teach the monthly lessons. The monthly topics and lessons will be provided by the grade level leads. Please note that there will be a separate signup specifically for volunteers for the All School Service Day in December.
Please Note: Any parent wishing to volunteer in the classroom must have records of completion Protecting God’s Children Training (VIRTUS) and the Online Illinois Mandated Reporter Training on file with the school office (Please contact Peggy Evans at [email protected] with questions).**
Please note that there will be an orientation meeting for Room Parents, Art Smart Leads and Service Program Leads after school on Wednesday, September 14.
Sincerely,
2022-2023 FSA President
