We got to touch base with Pat who shared her perspective on the biggest challenges her School Board has recently tackled; advice for new Board of Education members; and why she chose to serve as a School Board member in the first place.
Q: What motivated you to serve on a School Board?
After being retired for a few years, I reflected on how much the school system had provided me, and I had the desire to give back by serving on the Board.
Q: Can you describe one of the biggest challenges you and your School Board colleagues have faced during your years of School Board service?
One of our biggest challenges has been to hear ALL the voices -- students, parents, community members, staff -- not just the loudest voices.
Q: On a personal note, who is your inspiration, and why?
My mother continues to be my inspiration. Her "mother wit" and good common sense continue to intrigue and guide me.
