City Center Cuts Ribbon, Tenant Buildouts Have Begun
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp joined Mayor Troy Brumbalow and several other local officials for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Cumming City Center on Friday, June 24th. The ribbon cutting ceremony marked the end of the City of Cumming's construction phase and the beginning of individual tenant business buildouts. Businesses are anticipated to open throughout July and August, with a community grand opening event tentatively scheduled for mid-August. Other speakers at the ribbon cutting event included State Rep. Lauren McDonald, Forsyth Central High School Principal Josh Lowe, First Baptist Cumming Pastor Bob Jolly, and Cumming's "Honorary Mayor" 12-year-old Charlie Westbrook. Welcome to the Family: City Center Announces More Tenant Businesses
Several new businesses have recently joined the Cumming City Center family. Welcome SliceAbility, Homestead, and Good Vibes Nutrition!

  • SliceAbility is brought to you by Jeni and Matt Smith, owners of Rosati's Pizza in south Forsyth. This pizza-by-the-slice concept will focus on hiring employees who have special needs. Besides great traditional, gluten-free and dairy-free pizza options, SliceAbility will offer other sliceable items like breakfast pizza, avocado toast, quiche, and seasonal bread, cakes and pies.
  • Jeni and Matt Smith's second offering at the City Center is Homestead, a unique 3-in-1 restaurant concept. The Kitchen and Craft Bar at Homestead, on the main level, promises a family-friendly experience with a bold and expansive menu, complete with homegrown favorites as well as exciting new twists, all complimented by beverages from local breweries and signature cocktails. For those looking to enjoy a date night or to sit and sip an upscale after-dinner beverage, take things up a notch (literally) to the rooftop area - The Loft @ Homestead. The Loft will feature a more elegant small plate menu paired with sophisticated cocktails and wines. For patrons seeking a more casual and fun vibe, The Well offers a laid-back atmosphere downstairs with foods like burgers, sandwiches and wraps, as well as entertainment such as dueling pianos, trivia, murder mystery nights, and more than 50 televisions for all your sports-watching needs.
  • Good Vibes Nutrition, Inc. will bring delicious and nutritious drink sensations to the City Center, with their low-calorie, low-carb, and low-sugar protein shakes and teas in a wide range of flavors like Bahama Mama, Watermelon Crawl, Orange Slice, chocolate and peanut butter, cookie dough, Snickers, wedding cake, strawberry cheesecake, banana nut, cinnamon toast, Captain Crunch and Fruity Pebbles, among others.

July 4th Traditions Continue in 2022
Join the City of Cumming as we again celebrate Independence Day with several hometown traditions! All festivities will be held on Monday, July 4th:

65th Annual Thomas-Mashburn Steam Engine Parade, 10 a.m. to Noon: These antique giants lead the way for this 65-year Cumming and Forsyth County community tradition! As in years past, the parade will journey down Castleberry/Tribble Gap Road from Forsyth Central High School to the Cumming Fairgrounds (steam engines will enter the parade at Webb Street). Typically featuring more than a dozen of the antique engines, the parade is one of the nation's largest gatherings of these unique throwbacks to days gone by. The parade also features plenty of other vehicles, such as classic and modern cars, emergency service vehicles, motorcycles and floats, as well as all types of entries from local civic groups, government organizations, churches, schools, and businesses, among others. (Don't forget to stay hydrated and bring ear plugs, especially for little ones!)

Cumming Fairgrounds Celebration, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.: The Fairgrounds open at 4 p.m. with plenty of family-friendly fun, including vendors, music, kids' games and activities, and more! Don't miss the Pizza Eating Contest at 5:30 p.m. and Hot Dog Eating Contest at 6:30 p.m.

Fireworks Extravaganza, 9:30 p.m.: Be sure to stay at the Fairgrounds for the grand finale - the Fireworks Extravaganza! Cap off all the day's excitement by viewing the City of Cumming's annual fireworks display. The best seats in the house are on the grounds, but the display can be seen pretty much all over town.
Cumming Aquatic Center: Spots Still Open for Junior Lifeguard Camps
The Cumming Aquatic Center still has spaces available during its Junior Lifeguard Camps in July. The Junior Lifeguard Program provides the foundation for lifeguarding and life skills. The program focuses on five key areas: Prevention of aquatic accidents; fitness & swimming skills; response in an emergency; leadership skills; and professionalism as a lifeguard. This is a non-certification course for participants ages 11-14 years old. Each one-week camp meets daily Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participating students must be able to demonstrate certain prerequisite skills. For complete information, click here.
