Welcome to Fall Semester

Surry Community College is excited to welcome students back to campus! College representatives will be at the Knight Knowledge areas this week to assist students with questions, finding classrooms, and more.

Tents and tables will be located on the C-Building patio and inside H, J, V buildings along with the library on the Dobson campus. Join us for giveaways, supplies, and snacks August 15-18. 

On the Dobson campus, we will be providing students with a voucher for Kona Ice Truck on Tuesday, August 16, and a voucher for Garden Route Coffee Truck on Wednesday, August 17.

The Knight Knowledge areas will also be available this week at the Center for Public Safety in Mount Airy, the Elkin Center in Elkin, the Pilot Center in Pilot Mountain, and the Yadkin Center in Yadkinville where students will receive assistance with questions as well as a snack pack, water bottles, and enter drawings for gift bags.

Add Drop Period Dates
Add and Drop Period

The last day for a 100% refund for full and first session classes is Friday, August 12. Full-session classes can drop without a form through August 25, with a 75% refund with no grade on college transcript, and first session classes can drop through Friday, August 19.

Some classes cannot be added after the first-class meeting while others may be available through the late add process. To add a class, students should speak with their Student Success Advisor in Student and Workforce Services by calling (336) 386-3264 or email [email protected].

Federal Work Study Program

The Federal Work Study program is a great opportunity for students to make a little extra cash throughout the semester. To participate in the program, students must have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA).

Students may work up to 15 hours per week depending on unmet need on their FASFA. Students must maintain an enrollment status of at least 6 credit hours (half time) throughout the semester to remain eligible for this program. Students are prohibited from working during their scheduled class time.

Pay: $12.00/hr up to 15 hours per week (based upon unmet need on FASFA)

Title: Food Server
Location: Knights Grill, Main Campus
Pay: $12.00/hr up to 15 hours per week (based upon unmet need on FASFA)

Title: Math, Spanish, Science, or English/Humanities Tutors
Location: Second Level of Library in the ASC, main campus OR Yadkin Campus (depending on students preference)
Pay: $12.25/hr up to 15 hours per week (based upon unmet need on FASFA)

Fall Payment Plan
Fall Tuition Payment Plan

Surry Community College's Fall Payment Plan for Mid-term courses is available for students. The plan will open on September 12 and close on October 12 at 6 p.m. Half of the tuition is due at enrollment with the other half due in November.

There is a $30 set-up/enrollment fee. To sign up, go to Nelnet under Quicklinks in myKnightLife. If you have questions, please contact one of the cashiers at (336) 386-3206.

Start the semester off right by getting your home computer set up with a copy of Microsoft Office applications to use with your class assignments. Surry Community College provides students with a free copy.

Login to myKnightLife and look under the Technical Support menu. Then select the Download Center tab.

Nature Hiking
Nature Hiking Class Offered

Nature Hiking PED-171-30 is being offered at Surry Community College this fall. Class dates are October 12 through December 16 on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Call Student & Workforce Services at (336) 386-3264 or [email protected] for help registering for the class.

Knights Grill
The Knights Grill offers a full breakfast daily with multiple plate specials and “grab and go” items. Also, a full grill side with numerous selections and Hunt Brothers pizza by the hunk or a whole pizza. The grill also has a sub/wrap station and a full salad bar.
