Event Recap: Around the World Cultural Showcase

Thank you to everyone who attended or showcased food, art, music, or dance at the Around the World Cultural Showcase last Thursday, February 27! It was a great evening that brought together students from different Learning Communities to learn about and celebrate cultures.

LC Leadership Panel

The first LC Leadership Panel took place on February 11. The panel was an opportunity to learn about the various Learning Community leadership positions. Although applications are closed for next year, you can continue to learn about leadership opportunities on the LC website and consider applying next year. Also, you can still join the Learning Community Council by filling out the sign-up form!

Floor Mentor Awards - Nominations open now!

Nominations for the 2024-2025 Floor Mentor Awards are open now! Nominate a Floor Mentor who has gone above and beyond in supporting their community in a variety of ways! There are three awards available:

  • Floor Mentor of the Year
  • Floor Mentor of Character and Inclusion
  • Innovative Programmer of the year

Nominations will be accepted until March 27.

If you will be on campus during break and have a residential meal plan, you can sign up for meals at South. One breakfast, lunch, & dinner. There is no cost for these meals but you must sign up. On Friday, March 14, all dining halls will be open the same hours for breakfast and lunch. McMahon and Northwest will be open for dinner. Meal Plans will resume on March 23. The Husky Harvest (Storrs) pantry will only be open on March 20 from 11am-4pm. Full details and sign up form at: dining.uconn.edu/spring-break.

Spring break, March 15-March 22, is quickly approaching. If you have a residential meal plan and will be staying on campus during spring break, be sure to review the above information from UConn Dining and sign-up for meals.

Women in Making Forum. Saturday, March 8, Werth Tower, 10am-2:30pm. Skillshares, networking, free food, skill building. Celebrate success stories and discuss best practices, participate in skillshare workshops, learn about female makers, network with diverse women makers, giveaways and lunch provided.

The Women in Making Forum seeks to highlight and celebrate how women find success within the maker movement. Attendees will leave with a renewed sense of self-reliance and confidence in their individual abilities, realizing a deeper sense of self through hands-on learning. The Women in Making Forum is this Saturday, March 8 at 10am in Werth Residence Tower!

Humanities Research Fellowships for UConn undergraduates. Apply by March 14, 2025.

Humanities Research Fellowships

The UConn Humanities Institute (UCHI) and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) are excited to offer year-long fellowships for undergraduate students pursuing innovative research in the humanities. The fellowship offers a $2,000 scholarship, 6 credits, support, and opportunities to present.

The Choi Family Scholarship application is now live and will be accepting applications through March 14, 2025.

 

Recipients may use their scholarship awards for professional development (e.g., professional conference attendance), education abroad, research opportunities, alternative breaks and other service-based trips, as well as for books and UConn fee bill expenses.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a current UConn undergraduate student;
  • Have completed 54 credit hours at the time of scholarship disbursement;
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher; and
  • Submit a full application, including 1 recommendation from UConn faculty/staff.

2025 Frontiers Undergraduate Research Hybrid Exhibition

Share your research and creative projects with the university community at the 2025 Frontiers Undergraduate Research Hybrid Exhibition!


Frontiers will be offered in a hybrid modality. An in-person poster exhibition will be held on Wednesday, April 16, and an online exhibition will also go live on April 16.
