Home for the Holidays

At St. Anne's Place emergency family shelter, we try to make the holidays feel like home, complete with decorations, comforting meals, fun activities, and even a visit from Santa! Homelessness is an isolating experience at any time, and needing to stay in a shelter during the holidays can make moms and children feel even more disconnected from friends and family. You can help moms and children feel more in control of their lives amid the uncertainty of homelessness by giving new, unwrapped gifts. Your gifts will stock our holiday shop where mothers and children can shop for each other. View a list of gifts requested by shelter guests on our website. Gift drop-offs will be by appointment only December 14-16 at St. Anne's Place. You can schedule your drop off here.

No time to go shopping? Your donation today will also make the holidays special!

Giving Thanks!

It takes support from the whole community to ensure St. Anne's Place is a healing and joyful place for families experiencing homelessness. Shout out to everyone who gave on Give to the Max Day! Thank you to all of the individuals, faith communities, businesses, and groups of families and friends who ensure that families at St. Anne's Place get special holiday meals, basic supplies, and special gifts, and can participate in fun, therapeutic activities. Join the community and give joy by making your donation today!

Meet Libby - The Most Popular Field Trip Chaperone

“Please come with us, Libby!” The children staying at St. Anne’s Place plead as they insist she attend field trips with them. Moms also frequently praise her. As one mom said, “We LOVE Libby! Seriously, I love her; my baby loves her; she just got praise from three housemates. She’s dope.”

With compliments like that, it’s no wonder volunteering reduces stress and increases positive feelings. Libby joined the St. Anne’s Place volunteer team in June and quickly became beloved by the kiddos, moms, and staff. She helps with children’s activities, projects, and field trips in addition to covering the office during staff meetings. What is her favorite shelter activity? Field trips! She enjoys connecting with the kids and seeing their energy. She sums it up, “We always have a good time.”

We are fortunate that Libby finds the time in her schedule to volunteer at St. Anne’s Place. In addition to working, Libby is a biochemistry major at the University of Minnesota. Last spring, she wanted to give back to her community by volunteering and learned about Haven Housing through our partnership with the University of Minnesota's Center for Community-Engaged Learning. Libby’s spirit and willingness to help is a wonderful asset to Haven Housing. We are grateful to have her on our team.
