Drop Off & Pick Up Reminders

Drop Off and Pick Up – A written TED Talk from Mrs. Mares:

We’re nearly a month into school and at this point I rate our drop off and pick up procedures 3 out of 5 stars. I’ve seen worse but I know we can do better. As you may have heard, we don’t do average…we do awesome.

These rules and all traffic laws apply to every family at Notre Dame of De Pere.

No exceptions. This includes if you have been slightly breaking the rules for 3+ years and no one has personally talked to you about it. This includes if you see others breaking the rules and so you do too. When you know better, you do better.

Here are some on-going issues that need cleaning up:

Drop Off (MORNING):

  • Drivers: DO NOT get out of your vehicle if you are in the drop off lane. Be prepared to continue pulling forward at all times. When you have pulled as far forward as possible (either you’re at the end of the lane or there are cars filling the lane in front of you), your child should exit the vehicle on the school side of the car. Not into the street.
  • PK families may park and get out of the car in the drop off lane between 8:00-8:15am on Huron Street.
  • If you NEED to get out of your vehicle to help your child out of the car between 7:40-8:00 am, your options are:
  • Huron Street: Park in the parking lot
  • Superior Street: Pull as far south as you can past the mid-block crosswalk to help your child out of the car.
  • If your child is late to school, they must be accompanied into the office by an adult and signed in. Start times for students are:
  • Middle School: 7:55
  • Elementary: 8:00
  • PreSchool: 8:15

Pick Up (END OF DAY):

  • All Traffic Laws Apply
  • It is illegal to stop in the middle of the road to pick up your child
  • It is illegal to park over a driveway, an alley, or in a space that is not large enough to have 4 feet of clearance between your vehicle and all driveways/alleys.
  • It is illegal to create your own unmarked parking space in the parking lot. Parking in front of the dumpsters is not a spot.
  • When parked in the cut-outs next to school, be prepared to pull forward when a vehicle in front of you leaves. Not doing this causes unsafe parallel parking.
  • If you do not want to monitor and move your vehicle, find another parking space in the parking lot or the surrounding neighborhood.
  • The vehicles parked in the marked RURN space should belong to the winning family. If you covet this spot, plan to bid high and win it for yourself at RURN on November 4th.

ND Family Directory

ND Family Directory

The family directory is optional to participate in and is updated yearly. It is accessed through a password protected portion of our website and allows families who choose to share contact information to access contact information for other families as well. The purpose of this directory is to help form strong family connections and ease of setting up playdates, birthday party invites, etc. Families who choose to participate in the directory agree to only use the information shared for these purposes.

If you would like your child(ren) to be included in the directory, please fill out this form for each child you would like included. Information to access the directory will be shared in about two weeks after families have had the opportunity to join and the website has been updated. If you would like to participate, please complete the form even if you have completed it in previous years. We want to ensure the directory is as up to date as possible.

Book Fair Update: Starts Sept. 15

The Scholastic Book Starts this Thursday!!!

It is Book Fair Week! The Book Fair will run from Thursday, September 15th to Thursday, September 22nd. The Book Fair will be located on the second-floor landing at the top of the learning stairs.

Student eWallets:

eWallet is Scholastic Book Fairs' digital payment option! eWallet is a safe, convenient alternative to cash, offered with most of our flexible Book Fair options. It's easy to create an eWallet for your student. Simply add funds or invite family and friends to contribute. Then, shop in-person at the Book Fair or online through the Virtual Book Fair where you'll discover over 5,000 products including Book Fair exclusives, new releases, and value packs. After the Fair, remaining eWallet funds are not returned to a credit card but instead, become a gift card balance and can be used online with Scholastic or used to fund an eWallet for a future Book Fair. (Be sure to sign in with the same email used to create the eWallet.)

Use the school's Book Fair Homepage to set up your student's eWallet!

Teacher eWallets:

eWallets were a BIG success last year for both the students and the teachers! Teachers' eWallets received $1425 in donations last spring. How fantastic! Please look for your child's teacher to send their eWallet link in their weekly newsletters. The Teacher eWallet replaces the classroom wishlist that was used in the past. The eWallets create a great way to keep the classrooms filled with new and exciting books! The link below will bring you to a document that lists the eWallet links for all of the teachers at NDDP! Don't forget to support the library!!!

Nativity Peg Doll Exchange

NATIVITY PEG DOLL EXCHANGE

Welcome NDDP moms! You’re invited to participate in a Nativity Peg Doll Exchange taking place in the Fall of 2022!

WHAT ARE NATIVITY PEG DOLLS?

Nativity Peg Dolls are wooden peg people designed and painted to represent a specific person who was at the Nativity of Our Lord. Nativity Peg Dolls can be used for children’s play, as liturgical decorations in the home, in an Advent calendar as gifts, etc.

WHAT IS A PEG DOLL EXCHANGE?

It could be extremely time consuming to design and paint an individual peg doll for each Nativity Peg doll you may like to have for yourself or your family. Rather than painting 20 or more different individual Nativity pieces all by yourself, each person in the exchange chooses one historical figure and paints 20 of that one specific Nativity peg doll. Then, on the day of the exchange, you trade with fellow participants and end up having 20 different Nativity peg dolls! It really is a genius idea. It is much less time consuming to paint one peg doll assembly-line style than it is to do that many different peg doll all by yourself.

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?

It’s easy! A list of figures who were at the Nativity for this exchange can be found in this Sign-Up Genius. Simply choose which peg doll you would like to paint and sign-up with your preferred email address! Design & paint your peg doll then bring them to the exchange, where you will enjoy fun and fellowship with the other participants.
