So Said Saint Vincent
Let us abandon ourselves to the direction of God’s loving Providence, and we shall be safe from all sorts of inconveniences that our haste may draw down on us

Heavens Tell the Story of God
What does it mean that Mary is the Queen of Creation?
When she walked this earth, Mary regularly prayed
Psalm 19…“The heavens tell the story of God.”
Deep in her heart, she knew the story of creation was more profound than she could imagine. Only at the moment of Mary’s Assumption did she understand creation as she had never dreamed. Read the post HERE.

The Treasures’s Location
“For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” (Lk 12:34)
These words of Jesus shine a light on what it is that a given society values — what it treasures most, what tops its list of things most sought after? Read the post HERE.

A Vincentian View:
The Better Part
One of Vincent’s instructions to the Daughters of Charity involved the decision on what to do when the obligation for prayer and the obligation for service collided. We can find his guidance in several forms. Read the post HERE.

Former Provincial
Fr. Michael Carroll, CM, reflects on Vincentians as “social poets” on behalf of the homeless.

Poets help us step back in order to see more clearly. Over the years I have often found that I had to step back in order to see more clearly. Often mistakes are made or issues missed when people don’t step back to see the bigger picture. St. Vincent certainly showed us the importance of seeing a wider picture. Read Fr. Carrolls reflection HERE.

Very Vincentian Poem

Holy Thursday:
Is this a holy thing
to see
By William Blake

Is this a holy thing to see,
In a rich and fruitful land,
Babes reducd to misery,
Fed with cold and usurous hand?

Is that trembling cry a song?
Can it be a song of joy?
And so many children poor?
It is a land of poverty!

And their sun does never shine.
And their fields are bleak & bare.
And their ways are fill'd with thorns.
It is eternal winter there.

For where-e'er the sun does shine,
And where-e'er the rain does fall:
Babe can never hunger there,
Nor poverty the mind appall.
