Dear Residents -
Last Saturday was opening day for the Pearl River Farmers Market. It was a huge success, with large crowds and dry skies! But don’t worry if you missed it, as it will continue to run on Saturdays, from 10 am to 2 pm, through November 23, 2024. Stop by and see everything that it has to offer.
With summer here, the Town Clerk’s office is receiving hawking and peddling license applications, which allows door-to-door sales. As a reminder, the town offers a Do Not Knock registry, which prohibits vendors from going to your door, if you are signed up. You will receive a decal to display by the front door and your address gets placed on the no-knock list given to these vendors. For more information, call the Town Clerk’s Office at (845) 359-5100 x 5004 or CLICK HERE.
The Orangetown Police Department is counseling everyone to be aware of the many phone and online scams that are happening, often at the expense of vulnerable seniors. Never give out personal information, such as bank account numbers, passwords or birthdates, over the telephone. Be advised that law enforcement and lawyers will not ask for money to be wired or for cash to have a loved one released from jail. Please speak with your neighbors, family and friends to make sure they are aware of the risks and what they can do to protect themselves. To view a short public service announcement about these types of scams, CLICK HERE.
It is Teachers Appreciation Week and Assemblyman John McGowan is asking for your help. He is looking to honor a hard-working educator who works in the 97th District (Pearl River, South Orangetown and East Ramapo) and has dedicated themselves to shaping the future of our children. If you know of someone who fits the bill, nominate them HERE. The winners will be recognized by Assemblyman McGowan before the end of the school year.
Enjoy your weekend and Happy Mother's Day!
